Restored Farmhouse with private pool set in quiet olive groves ,fabulous views

Our beautifully restored two storey Farmhouse is set in approximately 5000 square metres of olive groves, almonds and orange trees. Relax on one of the terraces or under the shade of an ancient olive tree or a grapevine with a glass of wine and a good book, or cool off in the private swimming pool and marvel at the spectacular mountain views. Inside, the spacious accommodation is furnished to a high standard including some antiques, sympathetic to its restoration. Orgiva town is within twenty minutes walking distance and is the place to experience the local restaurants and bars where tapas are Free! A 'must' is a visit to the nearby famous white villages nestling below the Sierra Nevada, or experience the wonder of The Alhambra Palace in Granada. Many of our guests have enjoyed a trip to some of the beautiful beaches only 30 minutes drive away. In our guests experience, you will have a wonderful relaxing holiday in this magical environment.

Whilst not being a large town, Orgiva capital of the Alpujarras holds a weekly market in the town. There are many tapas bars, restaurants and small supermarkets. There are also 2 health food shops and a herbalist pharmacy. Enjoying many fiestas throughout the year, this is very much a Spanish town. Lanjaron is a spa town, where the Spanish have enjoyed treatments for over 100 years. The minerals found in the different waters are said to be an aid for any number of ailments. Visit the fascinating city of Granada with its spectacular Alhambra Palace, and the old Moorish quarters of the Albaicin. Shop in the town centre or just enjoy the hustle and bustle of the street restaurants and cafés in this ancient student town. Just 35 mins away are the relaxing beaches of the Costa Tropical. The white villages built by the Moors have a charm and style unique to this area. Spend the day visiting different villages and discovering some of the local crafts, still practiced in the region.

The Farmhouse provides genuinely large accommodation with excellent facilities. The photographs on our own web site speak for themselves. This is not a small cortijo deceptively photographed and you will not be sharing the pool or sharing other accommodation.

Additional information

The farmhouse provides large accommodation and is ideal for family/friends holidays and is suitable for winter lets. The construction allows the house to remain cool even in the hottest months. The gardens contains olive terraces, bordered by almond, fig and orange trees. There is access to many walks in the countryside, the town and local bars and restaurants. There are spectacular views of the surrounding mountains from most aspects. Easy access by car and a short, safe 20 minute walk into town along a lovely track. Just read the reviews of people who have stayed in the Farmhouse to get an independent view of all the facilities and location.

June 28th to July 12th 2008.La Granja de Olivos is large, very spacious, cool and well equipped. As a party of 7 adults we found there was plenty of room for us all, and sitting inside was a real pleasure. There are mosquito nets on all the windows which meant we could open the windows at night and enjoy the cool mountain breezes without the bugs irritating us. For our 19 year old daughters the absence of unidentifiable flying objects and lizards inside the house was a big plus!
Outside the garden is a dream. Sitting by the pool is pure pleasure and the pool itself was greatly enjoyed. It is large and deep which the lads said was ideal. The spectacular views and the peace [despite being on the outskirts of Orgiva] made just sitting in the garden relaxing and therapeutic.
Orgiva is ideally placed to visit the mountain villages, Granada and the coast.Motril has a very large night market and there are plenty of good restaurants and tapas bars in the area. We found no shortage of things to do both in the day time and at night. Orgiva itself has a good market and plenty of places to eat. It is very lively Saturday nights.
Graham and Fiona are extremely friendly and helpful. They are a mine of information and they are English! No grappling with trying to communicate with our faltering Spanish. The information sheets e mailed to us were invaluable and a great reference throughout the vacation. They maintain the farmhouse and grounds beautifully.

Location, ease of access on foot to Orgiva, Large private fully restored Farmhouse, private pool in a wonderful setting - not shared with other guests or the owners! cool at night, secure with window grills and mosquito nets etc. etc. G&F
