Dissapointed

The location and views were great, the driving instructions needed to have the road numbers on, as the owners knew the way off by heart but most renters will not.
We were disapointed with the overall cleanliness, especially the downstairs shower room, the shower head also had a buildup of limescale so was completely ineffective. The pots and pans had to be cleaned before use, and the oven was missing the control, so proved very difficult to use.
The washing machine was desperately run down and had no instructions.
The frames on the 2 single beds were not very secure so creaked all night and the mattresses were on a slope, we had to put pillows under them to level them out.
There were a lot of the owners personal items (toothbrushes, used soap etc) which would have been nice if they had been put away.
The outside space was great but again the white furniture was tired and needed a wipe down before use.
We would have been grateful for a small freezer as the nearest supermarket is a good drive away.
We were a little worried about the instructions if the electricity had gone off as the fuse box was not secure on the wall.
We would not recommend for young families as it is perched on a hillside and there is a sheer drop from the patio.
We were left a bottle of wine which was a nice touch.
We have tried to be constructive as we are all very experienced in villa rentals worldwide, and think this property may have been used previously for just family/friends and not paying customers, where the extra attention to detail is needed.
Owner's Response: Very sorry to learn that you were disappointed with your stay at 'Pitocco'. We (the owners) were there two days prior to your visit and the house was cleaned thoroughly
and left immaculate.
The control on the oven is missing but does not interfere with the actual functioning of the oven. This has now been rectified.
The washing-machine is old but does a very efficient wash.
Instructions are on the terracotta shelf behind the machine.
New, wrapped soaps are in a wicker container on the floor beside the sink.
The fuse box, which was fitted by ENEL (electricity suppliers) is only eighteen months old and has never caused us any concern.
The fridge will be replaced by a larger one, in June and garden seats also, at the same time. The house is our second home which we see as an advantage when renting
as it makes for a more comfortable 'home from home' for guests to enjoy..
