Theatre, Fitness centre/Gym, Tennis courts, Pizzerias, Pool, Shopping, Cinemas/Movie Theatres, Restaurants, Museums. Free high-speed internet connection. This area of Rome main attraction is St. Peter, the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chappel, but food is what draws the Romans to Prati.

Location: Rome Rome & Lazio Italy Nearest Airport : Fiumicino at 20 Kilometres Nearest Train : Termini at 2 Kilometres Nearest Beach : beach at 30.0 Kilometres Car: not necessary but a garage nearby can be contacted. Rome is a penny-pincher's paradise. Many of the top sights are public spaces, and many sublime churches are free to enter. You can easily walk to most places. Stick to Pizza ans Pasta and have your coffee standing at the bar counter. Most of what you would like to see is very close to the apartment.

Vaticano and Prati: Vaticano and Prati. Although this area is dominated by the dome of St. Peter's, and the attractions of the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel, food is what draws Romans to Prati. Two of the city's best food stores, Castroni and Franchi, on the main shopping street via Cola di Rienzo, are where Romans from all over the city stock up on prosciutto, cheese, salame and olive oil. In this distric you can see a great range of Historical ages and architectural style as you move away from the Roman Empire in the historic centre. Before Italy was unified the neighbourhood called Prati was just open fields and meadows (prati), but in 1880 careful planning and constructin led to the ordered grid of streets that you see today. The dome of St. Peter's acts as a homing beacon when exploring the city. The other main landmark is Castel St. Angelo, started life in AD139 as Hadrian's mausoleum. In its time it has been a palace, a stronghold and a prison. The Castle gets its name from the angel.

Anniversary Trip to Italy

Review Submitted: November 10, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We had a wonderful stay at Clara's apt in October. It was conveniently located near the Vatican and St. Peter's, as well as restaurants and a food market. We felt very safe in the apt. and on the surrounding streets, as we also did a lot of walking at night. The apt. was clean, comfortable and extremely quiet at night with the windows open. The hallway windows opened to a beautiful view! Francesca, Clara's daughter, lives one floor down, and was available for any questions. Clara had provided details about the area and a city map that proved invaluable during our stay! Would definitely return!

Family Stay July 09

HKD Hong Kong
Review Submitted: September 28, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We stayed at the apartment in July (2 adults, 3 children aged 7, 9 and 16). The apartment is in an excellent location, within a 5 minute walk of the Vatican, the #40 Express bus (which takes you to the train station and lots of the sights) and a little over 5 minutes to Castel Sant Angelo.

The apartment was clean and the owner's daughter was on hand to deal with any problems. The apartment is on the top floor of an old apartment building and is reached by a cool old fashioned lift and then stairs up the final floor.

There is a supermarket on the same street and an excellent Trattoria (which we found on our last night) just around the corner.

July 09 First time in Rome

Review Submitted: July 22, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My husband and I went to Rome for the first time this year and stayed at this apartment. We found it to be very clean and comfy with great views. The building is very near a little supermarket and some bigger shops a little further away but easily manageable. The kitchen did have everything you might need. the bed was very comfy and quite at night lots of hot water, although I would recomend taking a few basics with you. Some washing powder, conditioner, tea bags as was a bore not being able to have tea as soon as you get in although as I said it is really near the shops. It is very close to the Vatican and to the bridges that take you to the other side of the River for most of the other attractions. We managed to walk everywhere (except the Coliseum bit too far) but you do need a good map and a good sense of direction and very comfy shoes ! We managed all the organisation by e mail and phone.
We did get the train from the airport you have to go in a lift down to the station and it was 11 euros each then when you come out of the station you have to go to the front of the train terminal to get a number 40 bus 2 euros each then walk to the apartment which was a great adventure , but we got a taxi back to the airport which was 40 euros pre booked. Would suggest pre booking taxi both ways as they are out to get you when you get off the train and it is all a bit confusing. Think you could easily pay over 50 euros as they charge you for luggage if you don’t pre book and although they say they don’t the taxi we nearly got into said it was on a metre and the traffic is awful it would take ages…..
Would definatly stay here again.

At home in Rome

Benstorf Bremen / Germany
Review Submitted: March 29, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
A very nice, well-equiped and comfortable apartment with much atmosphere which makes you feel a bit not like a tourist but a Roman citizen who buys his mozarella in the nearby market hall, makes his evening stroll to the Vatican and takes a glass of wine afterwards in a nice wine bar around the corner. Very centrally located but nevertheless not in the centre of Roman chaos. For us it has been - twice until now - an ideal place for a week at Rome, and we hope to come back as soon as possible.
