A spacious two bedroom chalet in the mountain village of Planina pod Golico, 25 minutes from Bled. Sleeps 4 in a double and twin room. The chalet is fully self-contained with equipped kitchen, living room, dining space, large foyer, shower-room and WC. Beautiful mountain views, a garden, and terrace balcony with table and chairs plus BBQ. Your own transport is recommended. The top floor is unihabited - you will have the whole house to youselves. From the door, you can hike or cycle through forests & into the Karavanke mountains. There is a chair lift in the village which takes you up to a fabulous Alpine viewpoint and small ski area. The road through the village is dead-ended so there's almost no traffic, but the expressway is just 5km away down in the main valley. You'll be ideally placed for all the sightseeing: Bled, Bohinj, Kranjska Gora and the Julian Alps are close by. Ljubljana and Klagenfurt airports are both less than an hour away. Planina pod Golico is in the heart of the Gorenjska Alpine region of North-West Slovenia midway between Bled and Kranjska Gora. From the terrace of the flat you look out over the village and church to forested hills, and in the distance, the Julian Alps. Access to the house is easy with the expressway linking you to Austria and Ljubljana about 15 minutes away, down in the main valley. Despite the proximity to main routes, the village is hidden away in the hills, with no sign of the hectic modern world! Both Ljubljana and Klagenfurt airports are less than an hour by expressway. The chalet is in the village of Planina pod Golico, however the nearest neighbour is about 300m away and the house is not overlooked making it very private. The village sits in a beautiful hanging valley about 900m up into the Kaminške mountain range (or Karavanke), which stretches along Slovenia's northern border with Austria. Surrounded by the forested peaks of Golica and Klek.

Ski: There's a ski lift and ski runs less than 5 minutes walk from the chalet (but not open every day). If you need to hire equipment, the main resorts are only a short drive away. Kranjska Gora, Vogel, Kobla and Bled ski resorts are each 25-40 minutes by car, where you can hire skis and take lessons. Skiing in Slovenia is ideally suited to beginners, with plenty of easy runs and excellent well-renowned ski schools. There are plenty of cross-country ski areas around Bled. Zaternik or Pokljuka are the most popular, where you can glide through the forests with views through the trees to the Julian Alps. The Cross-country Skiing World Cup is held between Lake Bohinj and Bohinj Bistrica. Slovenia is also famous for its ski jumping at Planica, where the World Cup is held and Olympic ski jumpers can be seen practicing.

Golf: Bled Golf Course is 20 minutes drive. A fabulous 18 hole par 73 course set in some of most beautiful mountain scenery in Europe.

A visit to Planina pod Golico in Slovenia

We visited Planina pod Golico in June 2008. The chalet was situated in a quiet location with a magnificent view of the mountains. The accomodation was spotless and very comfortable, with a fully functioning kitchen. As we had a car, we were easily able to get to Austria and Italy for day trips, and we spent a lovely day visiting Lipice, where the famous Lipizaner horses are bred and trained. We feel that Slovenia is a hidden treasure, as we knew very little about it before we visited. The scenery is wonderful and it is obviously well set up for winter sports, walking and climbing holidays. We would be happy to go back to this property as one week was too short to make the most of it.

Planina pod Golico alpine chalet

We had a wonderful 2 week stay (August) in this very comfortable and well equipped chalet set in a beautiful location. Its position is perfect for those interested in walking and exploring the surrounding peaks (several around 2000m). Lake Bled is only a short drive away and a little further is Lake Bohinj, both are unmissable.Various types of water sports are also close by. The weather was usually hot (only one wet day). We found the local people to be very friendly and we think that they appreciated our (pathetic) attempt at the language. We would not hesitate to return to this delightful part of Slovenia.

Holiday in Planina pod Golico

Nice clean and well-maintained house with beautiful view.
We stayed from 12 till 19 July 2008 and made several trips.
Recommended: Trip to Vrsic pass ( 50 hairpins) At the pass nice / good walkways and great views. (Julian Alps)
Also nice is a walk through Vintgar (Sp Gorje)
A walk around lake Bled and a boattrip to Otok Isle is a "must".
Also walks in the surrounding of the house are nice.

Advice for care users coming through Austria:
Do not use the Tauern tunnel on saterdays in July. 300 km took us 11 hours.
Back home we took the Felbertauerntunnel with no problems at all.

Alpine Chalet in Pl. pod Golico

I would definitely recommend this chalet to anyone wishing to explore Slovenia.

Its location is very handy just 5 minutes from the main town and shops of Jessenice and 10 from the main motorway.

We found it a very peaceful and quiet location and the views from the balcony, with bbq, are fantastic whatever the weather.

I would recommend a car to anyone travelling to Slovenia and the chalet is perfectly based to reach the airport, Triglav National Park, Lake Bled, Lljubliana and it is not too far to the Med.

An excellent, clean, picturesque chalet, which would be hard to beat!!!

Amazing views - lovely chalet

I stayed here with my mother & father last year. The scenery around the chalet is spectacular and the village is lovely. We really enjoyed our stay, especially sitting on the terrace enjoying the views and tranquillity. The chalet itself is very spacious and well kept. We hope to come back next year and I've already recommend it to all my friends!
