* The peaceful 23 sq meter self-catering studio apartment is set well back from a quiet lane in a large garden shared with the main house and offers a wide range of facilities. * We are 100 meters away from the extensive, varied and beautiful arboretum of the picturesque but little frequented chateau. It is a lovely setting and Bagnoles is a real gem! * Bagnoles Lac is only 2km away and you can walk there through the woods or along the river. The facilities there too are outstanding, with many beautiful buildings and a wide range of shops and restaurants as well as many sporting facilities, including a stunning 9 hole golf course. A 400 meter walk brings you to our own range of outstanding shops and restaurants. * The studio would be ideal for a couple seeking a relaxing, peaceful break.

Traditionally, Normandy is the greenest region of France.The Orne is particularly varied and we are set in the middle of the extensive Normandie-Maine Regional Park with its varied countryside, chateaux, Stone Age and Roman remains and patches of ancient forest. We are set in the southern part of the so-called Suisse Normande which has lots of good scenery and really pleasant walks and drives in all directions. Invasion beaches and WW2 museums are just a short car ride away. Mont St Michel is under two hours to the West and we are under an hours drive from Alencon. The Alpes Mancelles is under 30 minute's drive to the south and has further fishing and boating possibilities, excellent views and picturesque villages. There are many and varied villages in the area and a collection of small towns such as La Ferte Mace, Domfront and Fler. The region is a gourmet's delight and specialises in cider and cheese production. Take your pick of bustling and varied markets.

  • There is a bath with thermostatically controlled hot water which also supplies the in-bath shower when required. The handbasin has a mirror with two lamps. The bathroom also contains the WC. There is a high stool. There is a spin drier for your hand-washed clothes.

  • There is a very comfortable sofa-bed provided which really is as comfortable as most beds. Do not confuse this sofa bed with those flimsy affairs which have a pull-out mattress. This one folds down and uses all the upholstery of the sofa to give maximum comfort. We now also have a folding chair bed (replacing one of the chairs in the photograph). This would be suitable for a child. You can either fold them away during the day, or alternatively there is room to leave one of them set up as a bed.

General environment: There are many and varied villages in the area and a collection of small towns such as La Ferte Mace, Domfront and Fler. The region is a gourmet's delight and specialises in cider and cheese production. Take your choice of well attended markets to treat yourself to local and regional produce. After over 50 visits we are still finding new places to explore and new things to do. Driving, certainly on the country roads is more like that in England in the fifties. Being a spa town, Bagnoles has a very wide range of activities for the holiday maker.

Golf and other facilities: There is an excellent and scenic 9 hole golf course just 10 minutes walk away with several larger courses within a short drive. There are a number of similar and larger courses close-by and this would be an ideal centre for a golfing holiday. There is a huge range of sporting and cultural activities in Bagnoles and it's surroundings: Horse-riding, cycling and walking on hundreds of miles of tracks through forest and countryside. You can do many types of watersports. As well as the lake at Bagnoles, with fishing and pedalos, there is a large lake 4km away with with other watersports like sail-boarding. There is a local airstrip where you can take trips in small aircraft or do gliding.

Other Activities: Very varied sporting activities including golf, watersorts, tennis, archery, gliding and flying.

There was all we needed and the sofa bed where wery comfortable! the city is nice and there is alot to see in the area, specially st.malo, le mont st michel, deauville, trouville and honfleur + others. Bagnoles is a very nice city aswell, lots of french tourists, but not to many in any way. we had a nice stay and i wouldent hesitate to get back if we had the chance!
