Villa Feliz : Our comfortable villa of spacious one and two bedroom apartments is situated in the edge of the small village of Portella de Messines. It is a very pretty spot offering peace and privacy close to the pleasant inland town of Sao Bartolomeu de Messines (commonly referred to as Messines), which lies about 15km north of Albufeira in the centre of the Algarve and is only 30 minutes by car from Faro Airport. We have welcoming local country bars and restaurants, which offer better value than the coastal resorts, and you will also savour the character and atmosphere of Portugal. The local people are friendly, especially if you make an effort with your phrase book. Main shopping can be done in Messines or, for immediate needs, there is a small general shop only a few minutes walk from Villa Feliz. If you want the sea or night life, it's only a 20 minute drive away. For golfers, there are many superb courses from which to choose in an area 25 to 40 minutes drive from Villa.

Each apartment is fully equipped with linen, towels, cutlery, crockery etc., but beach and pool towels are not provided. Linen and towels are changed weekly or more frequently if requested The one bedroom units normally sleep four; The bedrooms have twin beds and double bed settees in the lounges. Each lounge/diner is tastefully furnished with cane and pine furniture. Patio doors lead to the balcony with its own table and chairs. The kitchen has a gas cooker, microwave and refrigerator. Each apartment has digital satellite TV (BBC programmes) and heaters for cool winter evenings. Sun loungers are provided.. Whilst Villa Feliz is fully insured, personal valuables and money are not covered and, as with any holiday, it is wise to take out insurance for these items and also for medical cover.

A lovely area of peace and privacy but only 30 minutes drive from Faro Airport, 5 minutes by car from the centre of typical Portuguese market town (Messines) and 15 minutes by car from sandy beaches, golf courses and amenities at Albufeira. A general shop/bar is only 3 minutes walk and several good reasonably priced restaurants are only 4/5 minutes by car.

my wife and I have stayed at vila feliz on numerous occassions,I work abroad a lot (middle east) and find portella de messines a relaxing friendly area, the villa is set away from the small village shop and bar (a two minute walk down a tranqil lane with the scent of orange lemon blossom and the local bird life for company) the villa/ apartment is well kept and cleaned to a very high standard, the locals are a welcoming friendly people ,who love to talk and practice english( especially the kids)
in messines the supermarkets are well stocked and price are cheaper than in faro, and alberfuria as are the bars , there are 4 well appointed restaraunts within a five minute drive of the property ,all are exceptional and the menus are mouthwatering with wild boar venison great steaks and for the veggis plenty of choice,
early spring is a great time to see the area almond blossoms like snow on the landscape , and summer is fantastic not too hot , but enoughto tempt you into the pool .overall a great place to stay one word of warning though ,once you have stayed you will want to be back for more.we took some friends last year they enjoyed ti so much they are returning in 09 with the family

Excellent location, well presented apartments with lovely gardens and pool area. Local supermarket very good and only 15 mins to the beaches and shops of Albufeira.

We also went to some local restaurants which were off the tourist beat and found the food and wine to be good and well priced.

Peaceful and tranquil setting, yet accessable, we were very pleased with our holiday choice.

excellent location,nice clean appartment,some noise from the motorway,especially at night,towels,pots and pans are well past their best,and need replacing,plenty of tv channels,but a 12" Tv in the lounge is a disapointment,during summer months a fan is a must(,none provided)

We strive to maintain an overal high villa standard, to which end we never stop in the process of general 'up keep' and improvement of the property, gardens and equipment. Accordingly, we will seriously review all the points made to ensure that necessary improvements are made and we maintain the good overall standard enjoyed by clients over many years.
Regarding the motorway mentioned, it is a long way off and many regular clients asked, agree with our view, that there is no invasive noise from this toll road and the peaceful, tranquil nature of Villa Feliz is accordingly not jeopardised.
