This warm, spacious chalet has plenty of room to comfortably accommodate six. It is beautifully decorated, spotlessly clean and very well maintained, and there are lovely views of the surrounding mountains from every room. All of the facilities in the apartment are of a high quality, including powerful showers. The beds are comfortable with soft sheets and wonderfully fluffy towels are provided. We do a lot of cooking and - unlike most self-catered chalets - we found the kitchen to be very well equipped and had everything we needed. The apartment is set in an attractive village, 10 minutes drive from the Sainte Foy ski station.
The ski resort of Sainte Foy is small and attractive. It has relatively few slopes compared to most resorts, but the majority of them are very nice to ski, and there is a good variety of difficulties. We found it suited our group of mixed ability skiers (which included a beginner) very well. Although the resort is not rated in the guide books as being particularly good for novice skiers, we found that the nursery slopes were excellent, and placed out of the way of the bottleneck traffic that you often get down in the resort. Saying that, we did not experience any bottlenecks or queues as it was incredibly quiet whilst we were there. There were lovely wide, easy blues for our beginner to progress to. Intermediate to advanced skiers that like to cover a lot of ground might get bored of the ski resort, although there are many large resorts within easy reach to explore. However, we found that the brilliant pistes and abundance of wonderful, accessible off-piste kept us well entertained.
We found the owner to be very helpful, providing us with clear directions to the chalet and information about facilities in the Sainte Foy area. We were also given a local contact as the first port of call if we experienced any problems. This chalet really was a home from home and if we were planning another visit to this area we would definitely want to stay there again.
