The town of Ceret is the gem of the Pyrenees-Orientales. It is an incredibly charming and picturesque old medieval town that has been totally unspoiled by tourism. It is the most sought after location for people wanting to enjoy this stunning region of France at a relaxed pace away from the hustle and bustle of the more touristy towns on the coast along the Med. One can enjoy excellent food and wine in the several cafes and restaurants, year round festivities, very friendly locals, lovely shops, galleries, a famous modern art museum, an extensive Saturday Market. Nearby, one can visit some of the many extraordinary castles, many very friendly local vineyards for wine tasting, sea side town such as Collioure, St Cyprien, Argeles su Mer, Canet, beautiful mountain villages for walking, exploring, swimming in natural hot springs, or taking the famous Yellow Train along the precipices. Picasso himself and other famous artist used to live in Ceret - artists always choose beautiful places!
