Photos and Description of this County Cork holiday cottage Small, self catering cottage at the edge of the pretty West Cork village of Gole

Tigh na Carraig (which means the Stone House) is at the edge of Goleen village. A pretty, unspoiled village in West Cork. There is a small picturesque harbour, a couple of bars, an excellent sea food restaurant, antique shop and grocery shops. The two bedroom cottage has everything needed for a comfortable holiday, located on a quiet lane off the main road to the beaches it has lovely views of the surrounding hillsides. Built of stone it is light and airy a popular property for a couple. The open plan living areas make the house compact yet spacious and the price is attractive for this sought after area. It is private, yet not remote and there are neighbours close by. The walk to the village is pleasant and there is nothing better than taking a stroll to the little harbour to watch the lobster boats landing their catches and return via one of the bars for a glass of stout - or two

The cottage is at the edge of Goleen, one of the prettiest and most unspoilt villages on the Mizen. The Peninsula is a rocky spine of craggy. hills which stretches its finger into the Atlantic Ocean, guarded by the famous Fastnet Rock lighthouse. Goleen is the gateway to some of the finest sandy beaches in Ireland and Barley Cove is a five minute drive away. The pretty waterside hamlet of Crookhaven is also just down the road, a popular landfall for Transatlantic and European sailors there is always some kind of marine action in the harbour. Between the cliffs and rocky mountains of the Mizen there lie swathes of lush hedgerows which celebrate each season with masses of wild flowers. The fuchsia is the emblem of the area. Fashionable Schull is nearby where boats can be rented and horses hired. Easy access to Bantry and Skibbereen golf courses, the ancient oak woods in Glengariff, and much, much more make it an ideal base for an Irish holiday. .
