Charente holiday barn: Terrebourg

Both properties are fantastic, clean, brilliantly equipped, superbly maintained,we didn't want for anything, nothing was too much trouble for the owener and his local agent. The cottage is cool and traditional with stone stairs, large bedrooms with very comfy beds and doors that open onto a delightful balcony. The Barn is modern and spacious with equally good bedrooms, huge kitchen that opens onto a patio, so cook your meal and take it straight outside with a glass of wine and sit in the evening sun while you listen to the sound of peace and tranquility. FANTASTIC! Superbly equipped, spotlessly clean, David has thought of every single thing you could possibly need to make your stay enjoyable. I have to say the photographs do no do it justice! The surrounding countryside is so peaceful and pretty and the roads are a delight to drive on, the people are friendly and don't mind if you get your French wrong! We visited Angouleme, a lovely French town with lots of places to eat and drink, shops with Pastries to die for, and lots more with presents for home. Chateau Rochefocoaud is worth a visit and we loved La Rochelle. There are so many places to see and we didn't have time in one week. Perhaps Next time? I would HIGHLY recommend this place if you want a peaceful, quiet, tranquil break from life in a fabulous location with all the comforts of home. We WILL be back, Can hardly wait. I find that whenever I am having a bad day I go back to Terreborg in my mind's eye for a moment to relax. Thank you David.

Our family stayed in Elders for 6months 2008/2009 and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The house accommodated our family perfectly and was spacious whilst retaining its cosiness feel. Fully equipped and furnished to a nice standard. The hamlet was beautifully quiet so enjoying meals al fresco was a pleasure. A few towns locally so we did not have to go far for items we needed or for pleasure days.
David was always accommodating had we any queries. We would definately recommend this property.

Elders is ideal for a quiet week of doing very little. Very comfy cottage - bed and sofa great - and a real treat to open the bedroom balcony doors each morning and enjoy the sun. Cottage was clean and tidy and obviously looked after. Lawn and gardens added to the ambience of the place and lovely for lying out. DVD player and Sky TV also handy when the weather wasnt so good. The hamlet is quiet and charming with easy walks through fields directly opposite and Angouleme and Cognac arent that far away in a car.

The big plus for us was David, the owner. Very friendly and helpful and prompt replies to emails and phone calls. Organised pick up to and from airport via a local friend, ensured that there was some food for us when we arrived and helped us out with a car for the week - brilliant!

All in all, the place and David made it a perfect retreat for a week to get away from it all with absolutely no hassle.
