Well-equipped, child-friendly, heated holiday rentals open all year round

In 2.5 acre hilltop gardens you'll find comfortable, family-friendly, self-catering holiday accommodation with an 11x5m saltwater pool (fenced & alarmed) and a childrens play area.

Each gite is well-equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay incl the new ipod docks! Each enjoys its own terrace with pergola, fireplace and heating for those cooler months. Why not enjoy the the quieter months when the woods turn golden in autumn or the first flowers of the spring welcome the warmer sun.

Shopping can be arranged for your arrival and restaurant recommendations/bookings can be made. Relax by the pool and marvel at the spectacular views and sunsets.The large garden has many quiet areas in which to relax and a childrens play area. Well situated between the Lot and Dordogne valleys we are perfectly placed for visiting both or why not do our favourite daytrip to Carcassonne and the mediterranean.

A popular open-plan detached gite for 4-6 people. The central courtyard entrance leads into the large living area with plenty of storage and seating, a dining table for six and a well-equipped kitchen separated from the main living area by an oak-topped bar with bar chairs. A side door leads to the terrace which looks to the pool, views and breathtaking sunsets. Beneath the pergola you'll find a BBQ, wooden table and chairs for your exclusive use. There is a double bedroom with great views, a stone twin room (beds may be joined to form a king size), a double sofa bed in the living area and a travel cot (reserve at time of booking). The shower room and bedrooms are accessed off the living area. For cooler months, there is a selection of books, boardgames and DVDs with a games console and its selection of games. FOC WIFI internet on nearby terrace. There is private parking. Bedding and t-towels are included. Towels are available for rent if required before 20th May

Close to Cahors, St Cirq Lapopie and Rocamadour, voted two of the prettiest villages in France. This area offers a wide range of things to do including water parks, dinosaur/monkey/reptile parks and a zoo. Close-by you can play golf, horse-ride, canoe or paraglide to name but a few of the local acitivities or why not visit a local vineyard.

We are 2.5 hours from the Mediterranean beaches and 3 hours from the Atlantic beaches, where you can spend the day on the lovely sand and enjoy the seafood and fish restaurants.

Why not visit in spring or autumn when it is quiet and lovely.

The beautifully preserved medieval city of Carcassonne is 2 hours away and the 'pink' city of Toulouse just 1 hr 20 mins.

We have many good restaurants nearby. Cahors hosts one of the biggest markets in the area as well as offering boat rides, a road train and walks through the fascinating old town and cathedral.

Additional information about rental rates

  • A 25 percent deposit and receipt of the booking form secures the rental.

    We take minimum one week bookings from 30 June to 24 August 2012.
  • A security deposit of 250euro is due.This is held against breakages and damage. It is returned within two weeks of your departure.

    Following standard french gite practice, we ask that the property is left in the same clean state in which it is found - if cleaning is needed for the next guests then a 40 euro cleaning charge will be applied automatically. An end-of-stay clean is available at 40euro.
  • Charges include electricity, water and local tourist tax in the summer season.

    From 1st November to 31st March an initial basket of firewood is provided and charges include heating. Outside this time, heating is charged at 10 euro per night.

    Shopping can be arranged for your arrival for a small cost.

    Tablecloth. t-towels,towels and bedding included all year round. Pool towels included from 19th May.

  • The twin beds in the stone bedroom can be fitted together to make a king-size. There is an foc baby package comprising a travel cot with mattress protector and sheet, high chair and baby bath - this should be reserved at the time of booking to ensure it is available for you. There is a double sofa bed with top mattress in the living room. The maximum number of people in this gite is 6. At the time of booking please advise if you wish to reserve the baby package and, if your party is for six people, whether you wish the twin beds to be joined for a kingsize. Bedding and towels (for the shower and pool) are included.

Notes: There is a mobile air conditioning unit for rent as well as bicycles. The fridge has a freezer compartment and there is a games console with a selection of games, a selection of films, boardgames and books for colder days. The stereo is linked to an ipod docking station - this does not charge the ipod. The pool and surrounding pool terrace is shared with the second gite and owners. There are plenty of sun loungers, low tables, parasols etc on the pool terrace where you'll also find a table tennis table and solar shower. The shallow end of the pool has steps where you can relax in the cool water and marvel at the amazing views. The pool depth ranges from 1.20m at the end by the steps and provides a flat area covering half the pool - it then slopes down to 1.80m, with a ledge all round the sides of the deep end of the pool. In the large garden, there is a children's play area with sandpit, chalet, kitchen, slide and see-saw.

The perfect holiday retreat

We have just returned from a wonderful week at this gite and really couldn't have asked for anything more.

The property was clean and well maintained and even better than the description. A great deal of thought has gone into equipping it to make it a real home from home.

The 'pool with a view' was fabulous and although late in the season, we were blessed with glorious weather which allowed us to fully enjoy it.

The location is rural and quiet, with beautiful views, whilst still being in easy reach of Cahors and all the numerous places of interest to visit in this beautiful region.

We found the owners very pleasant, helpful and informative. They clearly want everyone to enjoy their property and the area as much as they do and go out of their way to achieve this.

We have already recommended this gite to our family and friends and we hope to return again next year.

A wonderful place to stay and relax

We stayed in the La Provençal cottage. It was very clean and very well equipped. The photos on the website and the associated description of the cottage was very accurate.

Virginia (the owner) was very helpful in providing us with information about the nearby region. The cottage also has a very complete information package.

The location was absolutely wonderful. Very quiet location with amazing sunsets and a great view of the valley.

We got lucky with very warm weather for mid-May. It allowed us to enjoy the wonderful pool.

Very close to Cahors (which has a great market day).

You are also very close to the A20 motorway which allows you to visit some of the sites North (like the Dordogne valley) of the cottage and South (like Carcassonne or Toulouse).

Some attractions nearby that you shouldn't miss:
Saint-Cirq Lapopie (amazing village)
Saint-Gery has a fabulous restaurant
Do a wine tour along the Lot river (Cahors wine, which a very dark and delicious red wine).
Make sure you visit Cahors on market day. Get the freshly roasted chicken and pototoes! They looked delicious! Make sure you get there early because they sell out quickly. We missed out (went for lunch, came back and they were sold out).

We would certainly go back there again.

lovely location, low-quality apartment

We enjoyed the region around La Provençal. We found the apartment itself less comfortable and hospitable than most. There was a new-paint aroma -- so strong, we had to leave the doors and windows open. One bedroom floor was unfinished rock, which made it hard to feel clean.
Owner's Response: One of the bedrooms is stone-walled with a stone floor, which we have always found easy to hoover and clean with a mop. This room proves very popular as the stone allows it to retain the heat in the winter and remain cool in the hot summers.

One of the walls had been repainted with emulsion that morning as a previous guest had marked the wall and we preferred to repaint the wall for a better impression for the next guests!

We work hard to provide comfortable and well-equipped accommodation - something for which we usually receive compliments.

THE PERFECT GETAWAY

Stayed two weeks and we've never had a more relaxing vacation as we did then. Despite not having full French summer weather, we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. The owners are really nice people and will help you with anything you need. Local trails are close by for people who are very active and just down the hill there is a small village. Cahors is 10 min drive and offers everything you need.
This is gite is really for people who need to de-stress. Especially with those sunsets.... OMG!!!!

Would recommend going here for anyone who wishes for peace and quite.....
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway
