Symi is the jewel of the Dodecanese islands, situated between Rhodes and Kos, just a few miles off the Turkish coast which you see from our terraces.
It can easily be reached by ferries from Piraeus, and several times daily by fast catamarans from Rhodes (50') and Kos. From Symi, you can do day trips to Turkey (Datça) and nearby islands (Tilos, Nisyros...).
Symi was a centre of sponge fishing in the 19th and early 20th century, and traces of its affluent past are visible today in its beautiful houses built in 'neo-classical' style which surround the harbour. Thanks to the 'archaeology', the site has been protected.
The harbour is always busy with yachts of all sizes, fishing boats and ferries. One can rent small boats, or use water-taxis which will bring you to the numerous secluded beaches around the island.
Many cafés and tavernas are on the port.
