The area has a wealth of interesting places to visit. Puycelsi, which can be seen from the house, is a delightful medieval bastide village, with several restaurants. Castelnau de Montmiral is another nearby attractive bastide village with restaurants, a few shops and a small supermarket. Albi, with its immense brick cathedral and Toulouse-Lautrec museum, St Antonin Noble Val and Cordes sur Ciel are close by and make very worthwhile outings.
La Vallee is in the wine growing Gaillac area. Wine has been produced here since Roman times. The local wine, especially the red, make good everyday drinking at reasonable prices. The town of Gaillac houses a wine museum and has a wide range of shops, restaurants, supermarkets and a weekly market.
Nearby there is a leisure centre with fishing, boating and swimming lakes, tennis courts, crazy golf and a summer cafe. The Foret de Gresigne is on the doorstep, providing ideal walking territory and horse riding is available from the local stable.
