Koh Samui holiday bungalow: Chaweng

Wow - the view is really good. The infinity pool outside our room looked out across the bay and over to Chaweng beach. The rooms are set back from the main road, and it's maybe 5 mins walk down to the beach...but you should allow twice that to get back, because rthe trade-off for that view is a near vertical climb up the access road from the main drag. A climb that very few taxis seem prepared to tackle. So make sure when you get your ride from the airport or the ferry that they know where they are taking you or you may have a steep climb with your luggage. We were lucky to get spotted by the friendly and helpful staff, and one of the lads came down on his moped and helped haul our bags up...so grateful there! local eating options are either the cheap and cheerful beach bar (say hello to their wonderful little husky puppy and hope you get there before he grows up) or up the hill a bit to the more up-market restaurant. Great cocktails there, and the seafood platter for two is mammoth! A taxi into Chaweng is worth doing at least once...and Eat Sense is our tip for a top nosh!
Rooms are good - air-con is efficient, big fridge and good TV for killing a bit of time between sun-down and dinner time. Breakfast by the pool is a nice way to start the day. Rent a little jeep for 800B for a day and you can drive round the whole island. Recommend lunch at the bar up past the zip-wire course...amazing view across the whole island.
