The villa is situated 3 kms from the pretty village of Entrecasteaux. Originally a stone-built bergerie, it has been extended and refurbished to provide comfortable accommodation for 8. The villa is set in wooded grounds of about an acre. There is a 9x4 metre swimming pool with surrounding terrace - enclosed by railings and a child-proof gate. The ground floor is open plan offering a spacious living/dining area. There are 4 bedrooms: 2 doubles with en-suite bathrooms, a large double plus a small bedroom with bunk-beds for children or teenagers. There is plenty of outside space for outside living and dining and a stone-built pizza oven/barbeque.

Located in the green valley of Bresque and surrounded by wooded hills, this typical Provençal village has kept its original charm that goes all the way back to the 11th century. The whole village has been classified a historical monument, with its ancient houses and the fortified church St. Sauveur. Entrecasteaux is one of the prettiest towns of the region. There are several restaurants and bars in the village and a larger selection only a few kms further in Salernes. The Salernes area is famous for its ceramics and there are many studios and shops around the village and you will definitely want to visit the lively Sunday market under the tall and leafy plane trees. Also close by is the village of Sillans-la-Cascade where you can take a relaxing stroll through fields and woods to the impressive waterfall. Another nearby village is Tourtour, known as the 'village in the sky' with its panoramic views and a variety of restaurants and shops.

The Region: There are many other nearby villages to visit, all with something of interest. The Gorges du Verdon and Lake St Croix which offer swimming, canoeing and walking in breathtaking scenery are only 25 minutes away. The Mediterranean and sandy beaches are also about 50 minutes to the south at Les Issambres, Frejus or St. Maxime and it’s just a little further to St Tropez. The region has many interesting chateaux, abbeys, wine domains, art exhibitions and frequent local markets. The main auto route, the A8, is only 30 minutes away so Nice, Cannes, Aix en Provence and Marseille are all just over an hour’s drive. Italy is an easy day's outing and so are the picturesque islands just off the coast from Le Lavandou or Hyeres

A dream for the disabled and for pets.

We had such a good time.

My daughter is in a wheelchair and she hates to be separated from her dog, so finding a suitable place is a problem for us.

Not only did the owner rearrange all the furniture to provide a bedroom on the ground level, he even built a small ramp for the steps to the lower terrace. He is a dog-lover too, so poochy was welcomed.

This is a wonderful place and we were made to feel more like family than renters. We will be going back next year.

We were so happy to have found "Le Bercail"

It is quiet and secluded, but just a few minutes away from the bright lights.

We spent a lot of time by the pool in October!! - It was so warm and perfect.

The Villa Le Bercail

This truly stunning villa is in an idilic spot close to Entrecasteaux. I took a short break there earlier in the year. The photographs do not do justice to this unique villa which is maintained to a very high standard. Although centrally heated for chilly evenings the log fire is magnificent when lit. The owner had made every effort to ensure that guests were comfortable and provided good information for guests that were unfamiliar with the area. The pool was extremely inviting and safely set out for children. On a personal note I throughly enjoyed the local markets with their colorful stalls The wide variety of cheeses and local dishes not to mention the abundance of wines on offer, which made my stay a culinary delight. I hope to return later in the year. I have no hesitation recommending Le Bercail and this part of France as a great holiday destination.

It is gorgeous and tranquil

I loved "Le Bercail" - the owner clearly thought through what was needed for a great holiday.

Little touches like the Grand Piano and Broadband and Sky TV made sure we had stuff to fall back on - not that we needed it. The kids loved the pool and exploring the country. My wife loved the markets and the food - as for me, I loved everything about it.

The place is 45 minutes from St Tropez, the water parks and the sea. There are so many places within an hour, but by the end of out week we felt we could have just stayed in the quaint village.

The owner clearly cares - we were made welcome and all-in-all it was a great holiday. We will be going back next year off-season too.
