Villa Romarin is the perfect location for an idyllic self-catering holiday in this beautiful and still undiscovered part of Mediterranean France. It is easy to get to from several airports: Carcassonne, Perpignan, Toulouse, Montpellier, Béziers, Girona (Spain) and a short drive from the motorway. Fully equipped with every modern convenience, this is a perfect home from home in which to relax on the terrace or discover the delightful surrounding country with its beautiful Mediterranean beaches, coastal fishing villages and fascinating remains of Cathar castles. The local Corbières hills are ideal for walking or cycling and the more adventurous might like to explore the Pyrenées. Vineyards abound for local wine tasting along with several excellent restaurants in the area. The villa has a large decked area with a private pool and stunning views of the vineyard strewn hills, and on those warm, tranquil, summer evenings you can dine alfresco on the covered patio with it's built in barbecue.

Durban-Corbières is located in the heart of the majestic Fitou, Corbières and Minervois wine producing region. The village centre with its tennis courts, bar/restaurant, bank, doctors' surgery, petrol station, supermarket, bakery,chemist and other shops is a short, pleasant walk from the villa. For swimming and wind-surfing, the beautiful Mediterranean beaches at Leucate and Le Franqui are only 40 mins away . The renowned African wildlife reserve at Sigean is 30 mins away. Further afield are the Pyrenées to the south for walking and skiing, whilst to the north is the Canal du Midi. Wherever you go, you are not far from Cathar history and the remains of their spectacular castles, including the citadel at Carcassonne. Throughout the year there are festivals in the towns and cities such as Carcassonne, Perpignan and Montpellier. For something different there is the lure of tax free shopping in Andorra, or you may wish to cross the border into Spain to visit the Dali museum at Figueres.

Additional information about rental rates

  • High and mid-season prices are charged on a weekly basis. Arrival time is Saturday afternoon from 4.00pm and departure time is Saturday morning by 10.00am. Low season prices are charged on a daily or weekly basis and arrival/departure days and times are flexible. Prices include: electricity, normal cleaning, bed linen and towels. During stays of more than one week, bed linen and towels are changed weekly. A 25% deposit will be required at the time of booking but will be fully refundable up to 8 weeks before the date of arrival. The final payment will be due 8 weeks before the date of arrival. In the event of cancellation of a booking within 8 weeks of the date of arrival, we will only be able to give a refund if we manage to secure a new booking. A security deposit of £200 will be required with the final payment to cover damage/ loss/extra cleaning. This will be refundable within 14 days of your return. Summer prices held since 2008 - July and August are still £1,000 p/w.

Notes: You will find the kitchen and utility room well stocked with all those necessities to make your stay home from home. The villa is part of a small exclusive gated estate in a quiet cul-de-sac (with keypad access) making it ideal for peace and safety. Well stocked bookcase with novels, travel guides and local maps. Selection of DVD's and CD's available as well as games, cards, puzzles to keep the children amused should it ever rain. Logs available in the winter for a small extra charge. Smoke alarms installed. Towels and bed linen provided, with mid-stay change for 2 week bookings, at no extra cost. Outside, the swimming pool has an approved solar/safety cover which adequately warms the water. There is also an external shower. Pool dimensions are 7.5m x 3.5m and it gradually slopes to a depth of approx 1.8m . (Pool available May-Sept) Baby equipment available: high chair; travel cot plus sheets. Disability equipment available: shower seat, toilet support (neither is fixed)

The place to be (wheel chair friendly)!

The best villa we had since we started spending our vacation in France. Recently build, it’s equipped with all the luxuries of home. It provides privacy, but is not too far from town – only a few minutes walk to the town’s bakery, and the enjoyment of a ‘Muscat’ in the local pub. Leucate-plage, Perpignan castle, Narbonne, … so much to see, so little time. We even went to Spain (longest trip, +1h) to visit Salvator Dali’s birthplace. If one has time for the trip, certainly something to consider – great town.
Having a disabled child, we appreciated the villa having the space to move around with a wheelchair, and easy access to the pool area. To reach the outside dining table one has to use a gentle slope, the only time some pushing is required. The bedroom can be accessed by wheel chair via the terrace/pool (not via the indoors hallway, but that was for us not a problem).
One just has to bring cloths, all the rest is available. Indeed a well stocked bookcase, DVD/CD’s and games. Towels and linen included and were changed mid-stay as we were staying for 2 weeks. This to our experience is not standard in France (actually the first time we had this). Just great.
And let’s not forget the friendly support given by Dave, who’s looking after some villa’s in the neighborhood.
We can certainly and without any reservation recommend this villa.

Great Holiday

Just a few words to say that we had a brilliant time at Villa Romarin.
The villa and setting were beautiful and the view from the living room and two bedrooms was breathtaking.
We could'nt have wished for anything better.
We would definately recommend this villa to anyone who wants a peaceful and relaxing holiday.

Need to relax ... this is the place!

After a beautiful drive through the mountains, we arrived at the villa. It does seem small from the outside but when we opened the door, our faces just lit up. It's very spacious, well decorated, clean and has everything you need. We would definitely recommend this property if you want to get away from it all. We did a few activities (most places/activities are just over an hour away) but as it was very hot we made full use of the pool and barbeque area. The children loved the pool and also enjoyed the great dvd selection during the midday sun. Needless to say that the adults ate far too much (nothing beats French food!) and left with a lovely tan! Thanks to Sue for all her help and for making our stay in her villa feel like home.

A Great Holiday

The memory of everyone's face as we walked into the villa on our arrival will stay with us, the villa looks small from the outside but walking into a very large vaulted ceiling open planned kitchen/dinner/lounge was not what we had imagined. A day after arriving at the villa the only insect we had seen was one our three year old had found, a preying mantis on the wall which perfectly describes the setting, so serene with the beautiful uninterupted views of the mountains We did not feel as though we wanted to leave for the 10 days stay, such a compromise with so many things to do and see around the area!

Three week stay in the Villa Romarin went so fast... great location..(away from it all) .... Fabulous scenery with loads of quiet roads...The villa has everything needed for a great holiday - from a treasure chest of games to a well stocked libary with lots of info on the locality, Really came back home feeling that we had one great holiday and the whole set up of this villa was central to this... the only downside was the pool.being a tad small but this is really only being petty... roll on 2009 !!
