Located in a traditional hillside village, Casa Barella is perfectly situated to explore the best of Lake of Como and the surrounding mountains, ideal for walking, mountain biking and water sports. Situated on the first floor this newly refurbished apartment offers 2 beautifully presented bedrooms with a fully equipped kitchen, modern bathroom and 2 balconies looking out onto the mountains opposite, and the village below. The living area is open plan with a large antique dining table for 8 and an open log fire surrounded by comfy sofas. Garaged parking is available with ample space for two cars underneath the apartment. Garzeno is a small, tranquil village and the mountains around provide absolute serenity. It is possible to find more life just driving the short distance to the main beach of Dongo where the tourists and the windsurfers meet. Dongo and the Northern part of Lake Como in general is known worldwide as one of the best spots for sailing, windsurfing and kite surfing.

Lake Como offers inexhaustible opportunities for tourists. It is the perfect peaceful location, thanks to its tranquillity and closeness with nature. It is also great for young or active people who would like to try new sports, such as wind surfing, wake boarding, water skiing, sailing, trekking, kite-surfing, paragliding, mountain bike riding or horseback riding on the beach or in the mountains. In terms of nightlife, there are bars and discos along the lake where you can dance until sunrise. Or, for more relaxed evenings, you can enjoy the taste of a regional kitchen in a typical local grotto and then savour an Italian ice cream in a romantic bistro on the lakeside. The opportunities are endless. In the village of Garzeno there’s a supermarket which can cater for your every need, a post office, two banks one with a cash point, 2 bakeries, both offering freshly baked bread daily, butchers, bar and restaurant.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Please contact the owner regarding rates for Christmas and New Year Weeks
    Prices are based on four people staying. For each extra guest thereafter, add £100 per week.
    A non-refundable 25% deposit will be required to confirm the booking.
    The balance of the holiday will need to be paid in full eight weeks before arrival.
    A refundable security deposit of €150 is required and payable locally upon arrival.
    There is a final cleaning charge of €60 again this is paid locally.
    Between October and March a central heating charge applies of £40.
    We ask guests to arrive from 16:00 onwards and on the day of departure to leave by 10:00.

Notes: The apartment has a modern fitted kitchen with ample cooking equipment and catering utensils for 8 people. The apartment has double-glazing throughout and is also fitted with oil-fired central heating offering relaxing and comfortable accommodation for guests. The living area is open plan with a large antique dining table for 8 and an open log fire surrounded by comfy sofas. Guests are welcome to use the complimentary logs provided to make their stay cosier. TV, DVD and ipod docking facilities are all available. There are two balconies off the living area to the front of the building with breathtaking views over the mountains opposite, up the valley to the west and the village below. Bed linen and towels (except beach towels) are provided and changed weekly. The apartment is cleaned with each change of guest. There is garaged parking with ample space for two cars underneath the apartment and guests are welcome to use this.

Ski: In winter northern Lake Como is ideal for ski or snowboarding with the lakeside roads being quiet and snow-free it's within easy reach of many ski centres. Madesimo and Barzio/Piani di Bobbio/Valtorta are just over thirty miles away. On Sundays when the roads are more crowded there is a coach from Colico to Madesimo. Many locals also go to centres like Chiesa-Valmalenco (just over 40 miles) and St Moritz in Switzerland (about 55m) as well as skiing and sledging in local valleys. There are also smaller centres like Giumello-Paglio (31 miles, especially good for cross-country skiing) and Margno-Betulle (28 miles with 7 pistes) but you need to check snow conditions.

Golf: The 18-hole golf course in Menaggio is the oldest golf course in Italy (Open from March to November) has an absolutely splendid view over the lake. It is worth going there just for afternoon tea and you may even bump into George Clooney as this his favoured golf course!

'What a refreshing holiday. A lovely spacious apartment, with friendly locals, yummy bakery and being so close to lake Como, the kids had a fantastic time as well. We will definitely be back!'
