Found on the north side of Etna, this totally renovated rustic house with 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms offers a panoramic view that stretches from the inland Sicilian landscape to the heights of the volcano’s crater. A rural road brings you to this lavastone house, which is sharply contrasted by the bright green of the wild Sicilian vegetation. The landscape surrounding the accommodation is characterised by antique lava flows and olive trees. Taormina and Giardini Naxos (with sandy beach) distance only a 15 min. drive (20 km). The delightful gorge 'Gole d'Alcantara' and the medieval towns Randazzo, Castiglione and Francavilla di Sicilia are all in a range of 10 km. Due to the presence of a fireplace and central heating, Casa Lavica lends itself also for use in winter. Many people are unaware that Etna is a popular skiing resort in the winter months. The closest ski-facilities are in Piano Provenzano (Linguaglossa), 7 km away.

Golf resort at only 3 km away

“Il Picciolo Golf Club”, at Rovittello, Castiglione di Sicilia, is situated only 4 km from the house. The Picciolo Golf Club is the first golf course constructed in Sicily. It was designed, in the 1989, by Luigi Rota Caremoli. The beautiful 18 holes are among oaks, hazels and vineyards. Volcano Etna is the great attraction of the course, it dominates almost every hole and also allows the fantastic emotion of discovering lava flows all around from time to time. At a height of 650 mt above the sea, the fresh air which cools in summer the hot sun allows to forget the renetic rhythm of the town. At approximately 4 km there is the town of Linguaglossa, point of departure of most excursions to Mt. Etna. On the other side, one of most extraordinary monuments of nature: Alcantara Gorges, a terrific natural phenomena with caves and falls. At 25 km there's Taormina, shining like precious jewel. Skiing on the volcano!

Few people are aware that Etna is a popular location for skiers in winter. The closest ski-facilities are in Piano Provenzana (Linguaglossa), but can also be found at Rifugio Sapienza (Nicolosi). Piano Provenzana distances only 7 km from the house. On some glorious days in winter, it’s even possible to ski the frozen slopes in the morning enjoying a wonderful panoramic view of the Mediterranean, and then, the same afternoon, go and sunbathe on the beaches below!
