Welcome to Trullo Il Paradiso, our 250 year old beautifully renovated trullo surrounded by ancient olive groves and fruit trees just 5 miles from the towns of Ostuni and Martina Franca. ll Paradiso is a luxury property set in 5 acres of peaceful countryside. Come and enjoy the delights of picking your own fruits for breakfast and opening the shutters to reveal sweeping views of distant hill towns. Our trullo has been lovingly restored to maintain original features as well as adding comfort and style. The trullo is cool in summer with its own deck chairs and outdoor eating area, and very cosy in the winter with its charming wood fire and central heating. Just 30 minutes from Brindisi or an hour from Bari, Tullo Il Parasido can be easily reached by Ryanair flights from London Stansted as well as regular connections from Rome and Milan.

The excellent white wines of Locorotondo and the reds from the Salentine peninsular will complement your 'alfresco' meals under the ancient olive trees of our trulli. Here you are never too far from the sea. The Adriatic and the Ionian seas offer large beaches and quiet coves, with beautiful clear blue water.   • The spacious luxury bathroom is a wet room style with a generous shower head. An additional shower with hot/cold water has been installed under an olive tree to allow you to cool down whenever you feel like it. The large window faces west and enjoys great views and a wonderful light at sunset.

Notes: Trullo Il Paradiso is a 250 years old building with the traditional cones typical of this region. The trullo has just been lovingly renovated and the original features have been respectfully updated, giving the house a more open feeling of space and maximum comfort. In cooler months the central heating and a woodburning stove will keep you warm and cosy. Th traditional thick stone walls keep the trullo cool in summer. The surrounding grounds, with over 150 ancient olive trees and a variety of fruit trees will provide all the shade needed when you want to relax and read a book or simply have a siesta in the open air.

A great place to relax

After a couple of hectic months at work, this was the perfect place to unwind. Set in olive groves a couple of minutes from a small village, the trulli really gives you the opportunity to get away from it all.

The trulli is about a 15 to 20 minute drive to 4 main towns and so there is lots to see and do if you wish. A car is essential if you are staying here.

The truilli itself has been beautifully restored and was extremely well presented. Everything has been thought of and is available to help you enjoy your holiday. The highight was a shower outside in the olive grove which even had hot water!

We prepared a couple of meals in the trulli and really enjoyed these evenings as we sat and watched the sun go down and listened to the sounds of nature all around.

It took a bit of effort to find a good beach as the first few which we came across were very small and rocky. However, all along the Torre Canne the beaches are sandy and have good facilities.

This holiday was a real pleasure and I would have no hesitation in recommending it. We certainly hope to go back next year.

Magnificent Spring

This was a lovely week in Southern Italy in the Spring. Where in England can you drink a cappucino sitting outside in a town square in the sun and be charged 1 Eur 50per person? And the price would have been 1 Eur if we had drunk it inside!

There are several neighbouring towns within 20 minutes drive, including Martina Franca, Cisternino and Ceglie Messapica where we had a magnificent meal in a restaurant near the square, recommended by a local man. The young waiter made us very welcome and the food - typical of the area - was delicious. I am afraid that I do not recall its name.

Another place which impressed us was Martina Franca, a beautiful town, and a restaurant there where we ate several times called Il Borgo Franco. We had only to wait for the gentleman in charge of the front of house to suggest another wonderful dish before we found ourselves agreeing that it was exactly what we had been craving.

We also visited Matera , a good hour and a half's drive away, where we had a guided tour of the sassi where thousands of people had lived in close proximity over the years, and saw caves which had been inhabited by prehistoric man. The lunch we had there was good too, washed down by the wine recommended by the chef, which had been produced locally by his father.

Aurora cooked for us twice for 25 Eur per person, and both meals were enough for two dinners, and lunch the next day too.

We can't wait to return and sample Aurora's magnificent pool in the summer.

What a marvellous few days in an idyllic setting!! Far from the madding crowd, a truely Romeo and Juliet experience.
My other half enjoyed it too :o) Can't wait to return again as soon as possible!! The Trullo exceeded our expectations inside and out!! as did the local scenery. Spotlessly clean, tidy, comfortable and tastefully furnished, a remarkable renovation! We want one too!! or lets be greedy.....more than one!! A real life Hobbit house, home from home. Bilbo and Frodo!!

For purely selfish reasons I am reluctant to write this review – simply because I would like to keep this idyllic trullo all to myself (and I am certain that once you have stayed here you will understand my sentiments).

My husband and I spent a wonderful week in October 2008 at Trullo Il Paradiso – if you are searching for exceptional accommodation, in a tranquil setting, in the heart of the Puglian countryside, then look no further.

Our stay at Trullo Il Paradiso far exceeded our expectations - the setting (in the heart of an ancient olive grove); interior design (a perfect balance of style and functionality); and amenities (everything you could wish for and more including whiter than white bed linen and towels) were all exceptional.

We enjoyed a thoroughly relaxing week based at Il Paradiso and found the olive groves and local area ideal for outdoor pursuits such as walking and running. The trullo was also ideally located to enable us to explore Puglia and to enjoy some lovely evenings out in the surrounding towns of Martina Franca, Ostuni and Cisternino most of which are less than a 15/20 minute drive away. That said, one of our most memorable evenings was at the trullo itself when Aurora (our local contact for the trullo) prepared a glorious meal for us (from Antipasti to Dolce).

Anna, the owner of the property, could not have been more helpful providing us with advice and even helping to co-ordinate our car hire and local transfers prior to our departure.

Trullo Il Paradiso is aptly named and I look forward to returning - hopefully in the not too distant future.
