Our large 3 bed roomed detached rental house, set in just under an acre of gardens and built in 2000 to a traditional Perigourdine style, is located near to the medieval town of Sarlat la Caneda. A tranquil and peaceful setting it is handy travelling distance to Beynac, Domme, La Roque Gageac, Rocamadour and the beautiful Dordogne River (8.5 miles away) . Within 5 minute drive to a man-made bathing lake - Etang de Tamnies. It has a fully equipped kitchen for self catering - or barbeque on the railed terrace if it gets too hot! A private pool has been recently built (9.0m x 4.5m). A very rural setting will give you a relaxing holiday and the nearby towns and villages will remain in your memories for ever. The pool will keep the kids happy but should they require a little more then quad biking, go-karting and the lake are all within a short drive.

The House is in the village of Marcillac, approx a 5 minute drive from Sarlat la Caneda (5 miles). The Etang de Tamnies is just round the corner (1.5 miles). A 5 minute drive the other side of Sarlat is the Dordogne River and the villages of Domme, Beynac, La Roque Gageac are must see visits. Les Eyzies, Saint Cyprien and Le Bugue are all close by. Further afield both Rocamadour and Bergerac are well worth a visit. The gardens at Marqueyssac are wonderful by candlelight.

Enjoyed a great short break at this beautiful house with three friends. The house was easily large enough with the three bedrooms. The location is superb and only a short drive from the lovely town of Sarlat. Sadly the weather wasn't quite warm enough that early on in the Spring/Summer to use the pool, although we still managed to get wet canoeing down the Dordoyne. The bbq was used one evening but there are plenty of cafe/restaurants in Sarlat, and also good kitchen facilities in the house. Throuoghly enjoyable stay and sure I'll be visiting again.

Had 2 weeks in the house last September. Wonderful property with everything you could want, with lovely views across the surrounding countryside. Lovely location with a 10 minute drive into medieval Sarlat with its attractive streets and good choice of restaurants. There is so much ot do in the area and most of it is no more than a half hour drive it all makes for a relaxing holiday. Was good to come back on a hot day to take a dip in the pool and enjoy a beer or wine on the teerace. An excellent holiday helped by Suzanne's guidance before we went and the good condition of the property. Certainly somewhere we would recommend.

Sunny in Sarlat

So after what felt like a cold start to the year, two sunny weeks in the south of France is just what the doctor ordered, and just what the house was able to serve up. 30+ every day. And in style!
What an absolutely beautiful house - everything clean and new in a relaxed open plan setting. It opens up onto a huge balcony which is perfect for alfresco dining with a view of the large garden and the lovely pool.
And then to top it all off is the location. Relaxing by the pool you struggle to hear anything but the birds, yet it's about 5 mins from the town of Sarlat with fantastic restaurants, and perfectly situated for day trips to places like Monpazier, Domme and Beynac along the river.
What a fantastic place - hope to be back next year! Thanks Suzanne.

Lovely house in excellent location

Just back from a weeks stay at this lovely house.
Suzanne was an absolute dream to deal with and gave us loads of good advice and recommendations for the area which gave us an even better holiday.
The propery is in a beautiful and peaceful rural setting but is just 10 mins away from Sarlat and its shops and restaurants which is great for shopping and eating out alike.
The photos on the site were really accurate - not here those disappointing shots that make things look better than they are - and the house is beautifully and tastefully furnished. The property is in excellent condition.
The pool is great and very private with plenty of comfy high quality sun loungers.
The sun terrace and barbecue were much used and being placed right next to the access to the kitchen was great for gettting another bottle of wine (or ketchup for the kids).
The location is central to the areas many attractions including the river itself, next to a great road network and easy to find even though in a very rural setting. A very straightforward one hour run from Bergerac airport
The owners have left plenty of info on the area and things to do and see and the info pack on the house was excellent as well as thoughtful advice for those with young children. Ours are 20 and 15 and both loved the house and spacious en-suite bedrooms - they weren't bored!
This property makes you feel like you stayed in someones home rather than rented a holiday house, it was very comfortable.
Lots to see and do for all ages, the tourist info office in Sarlat has great info and really helpful staff - eating out is great and we found best value in small local villages but Sarlat is great for a good night out with its street entertainers (every day and night of the week) so worth investing in a slightly more expensive meal in the restaurants in the main square with entertainment alongside or a coffee or chocolat in the bistro cafes or just stand and watch some very professional acts.
Recommend the canoeing, loads of operators and locations and distances from 5km to 26km!
Are there any downsides? Can't think of any apart from that you must have a car but that is obvious from the websites and rental not overly expensive from airport.
Highly recommend this if you want a really peaceful location that is still close to amenities and attractions and activities in the Dordogne and Verzeses valleys.
