This charming self-catering holiday rental is just 8kms from Bordeaux, a short walk from the Garonne river and within easy access of Bordeaux's many vineyards, St Emilion and the Atlantic beaches. Le Chai has been tastefully remodelled to the highest standards to offer you every comfort while retaining many original features like it's exposed honey-coloured stone walls and limed timber beams. A split-level, open-plan design, the ground floor has a sunny, spacious lounge, a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area. Upstairs, the master bedroom (with en-suite shower room), 2 twin bedrooms, bathroom and laundry room open onto a wraparound gallery that overlooks the lounge. You will enjoy the privacy of the shady enclosed courtyard. Perfect to relax in and for meals al fresco. Guests at 'Le Chai' have unlimited access to the pool situated in the grounds of the main house. The owners are the only other users.

Only 8 kms from the centre of Bordeaux, Le Chai is an ideal base for visiting the city and its many vineyards. Walkers and cyclists will appreciate the nearby cycle track which winds its way through 60 kms of the woods and vines of the Entre Deux Mers to the historic bastide town of Sauveterre de Guyenne. The vineyards of Loupiac and Cadillac within easy reach, St Emilion just a 30-minute drive away. The Médoc a little further. Many lovely Bastide villages to visit, each with its farmers' market. Nearby Bordeaux (UNESCO Heritage Site)-offers all the leisure and cultural activities of a large historic city. The ocean and it's rolling surf is an hour's drive away, as are several soft-water lakes for windsurfing, sailing, water skiing.

Had a lovely stay in Le Chai from the moment to walked in the door were delighted with the house (the photographs do not do it justice). It is very well located within easy reach of the train station and the park and ride for the short and cheap (€3.00 per car regardless of no;. of passengers) tram ride to Bordeaux with its beautifully architecture and great restaurants. The secluded swimming pool was a welcome cool down from the high temperatures. The house is maintained to a very high standard and the owners were very helpful recommending beautiful areas/vineyards to visit and wonderful restaurants to eat in. A return visit for our family is a definite.

Beautiful home, beautifully decorated with plenty of room inside and out for our extended family to relax and have the time of our lives. With a 60 km bike path along the Garonne river, we rode every day through vineyards and the most spectactular scenery. The owners recommended the best restaurants that only locals would know about as well as museums to visit in Bordeaux. They were most helpful in suggesting things to do, places to go, the Atlantic ocean was less than an hour away, the best croissants to eat, markets to shop in and the wine festival was only 7 km away. I cannot wait to go back.

We had a fantastic long weekend at 'Le Chai'. The house is huge with all amentities for cooking and socialising. There is a lovely use of the pool. You really feel away from it all, whilst at the same time being a short taxi ride away from Bordeaux. Carmel and her family are lovely and are very helpful. If we go back to Bordeaux we would definitely stay here again.
