The villa overlooks the village of Gavalahori which is just over 1km away. A lovely walk downhill, for a refreshing glass of something cool at the village Taverna, but a bit of a hike back up and only for those who are fit. The village has a baker, a couple of kafeneons, three tavernas, a supermarket and a Lace cooperative shop. The village of Vamos is 1km behind the villa and has a number of tavernas, a bank, a bar, gyro (the best!) chemist ,petrol stations and a range of other shops. The nearest beach is Almerida which is 7km (10 min drive) away. Good for kids, sandy, many tavernas and a few bars. Nearest town is Chania , 35 mins drive and worth a visit alone for sitting at the harbourside bars/tavernas in the evening and watching the world go by. For those interested in history, Aptera is 20 mins away, an abandoned town with Greek/Roman/Byzantine ruins.
The villa has a panoramic view, sea to the north, white mountains to the south, sunsets and sunrises that are breathtaking
