Set amongst the trees, overlooking the picturesque village of Gavalahori, large 4 bedroom villa (200m sq.) Light and airy with large living area, picture balcony, huge covered ground floor terrace and separate terraces accessible from each bedroom. Two double & two twin bedrooms, each with own shower room. Can sleep 10 on request. Pool with stunning views overlooking Souda Bay and the mountains. Ideal place to watch the sun go down. Only 35 minutes drive from the airport. Close to family beaches of Almerida and Kalives (10 min. drive) with their water sports and fantastic selection of tavernas. Ideal for large family or two families sharing. Fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher and washing machine. Maid service twice per week, welcome pack, details of local tavernas, self catering. Great location for summer or out of season. Fans, central heating, log burning fire. Sit by the fire in winter and discover why they are called the White Mountains!

Close to the sandy beaches of Amerida and Kalives with their watersports. Situated in the Apokoronas region with its many historical attractions, including the roman ruins at Aptera. 35 minutes drive from the main town of Chania with its beautiful Venetian buildings and harbour. For those that enjoy walking, Samarian and Imbros gorges easily within reach by car. Lake Kournos, the only natural lake on the island is less than 25 minutes away with its wildlife including terrapins. The house is set on its own in the trees with buzzards and eagles frequently seen, along with the occasional hedghog that comes to drink at the pool in the evening. Great selection of tavernas locally in Gavalohori, (1.5km) Vamos (1km), Almerida (7km) and Kalives (7km). Easily reached from the main East-West highway. Great position to explore other parts of the island from including the south coast and the Minoan ruins at Knossos. Supermarkets, bank, pharmacy, baker, fishmonger, butcher & other shops in nearby.

Notes: Up to the front door is wheelchair accessible. There are then two steps up through the front door. The ground floor is open plan and on two levels it then has two steps up to the kitchen/diner and downstairs bedroom 4 and bathroom 4. Anyone in a wheel chair would need help to get up the steps at the front door and from the lounge level.

The villa overlooks the village of Gavalahori which is just over 1km away. A lovely walk downhill, for a refreshing glass of something cool at the village Taverna, but a bit of a hike back up and only for those who are fit. The village has a baker, a couple of kafeneons, three tavernas, a supermarket and a Lace cooperative shop. The village of Vamos is 1km behind the villa and has a number of tavernas, a bank, a bar, gyro (the best!) chemist ,petrol stations and a range of other shops. The nearest beach is Almerida which is 7km (10 min drive) away. Good for kids, sandy, many tavernas and a few bars. Nearest town is Chania , 35 mins drive and worth a visit alone for sitting at the harbourside bars/tavernas in the evening and watching the world go by. For those interested in history, Aptera is 20 mins away, an abandoned town with Greek/Roman/Byzantine ruins. The villa has a panoramic view, sea to the north, white mountains to the south, sunsets and sunrises that are breathtaking

We have just returned from a lovely 2 week holiday,this property is wonderful, perfectl location for a totally restful holiday.This property has everything you need for a great holiday for all ages. We will be back some time soon.

Wonderful villa

Just returned from 2 weeks at villa agavanos had a fantastic time,the villa is huge and plenty of space for our family of 6.The village of vamos is not to far away and the locals really friendly, the pool was a good size and very clean.We loved the views and there was always something new to look at.Our neighbours were the goats and sheep.The bakery in Vamos sells wonderful bread for breakfast and the fish monger great produce.The accomadation was great and had everything to make our stay relaxing and stressfree which is my idea of a holiday.

We were wonderfully impressed with this well planned and designed villa. There was everything we needed with an unexpectedly impressive library of books and DVDs. It was tempting not to explore the Island as staying in the villa was so comfortable and serene.
Without hesitation I would recommend this villa to friends. It is generously sized and immaculately maintained with stunning views, and without doubt one of the best villas we have ever stayed in.

Outstanding Villa Experience

This is the most amazing place, the light and space is spectacular. The villla throughout is at the highest standard, everything has been considered to create a home away from home.

The light and space of the villa's terraces are so relaxing and soothing after the heat of the day, the perfect place to kick back and chill with an iced drink while taking in the breathtaking sweep of the bay. I am not often lost for words but the panoramic 360 views left me speechless.

You can button down the hatches with friends and family spending lazy relaxing days by the pool/taking meals on the terrace, watch the stars at night ( the first floor terrace has a open topped pagoda which gives the effect of being in your own observatory) or take the short journey to the small villages and beachside haunts for authenic food and wine.


Personally I could have stayed much longer if not forever. I would highly recommend this Villa to anyone looking for a truly first class holiday experience.
