Aviemore is in Cairngorm National Park in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. There is so much to see and do in the surrounding area that a week may not be long enough! Depending on the time of year you visit us you may want to take part in skiing or snowboarding. The area is excellent for the nature lover...whether you want to take photographs of the dolphins and seals on the nearby Moray Firth or closer to home the pine marten, red grouse, ptarmigan or deer..even Scotlands reindeer herd is only a few miles away at Glenmore. Horse-riding or quad bikes, husky sled dogs or fishing the endless choice is yours. Inverness is only 30 miles away if you feel the urge to shop or you can take the Whisky or Castle Trail which are both closeby. The Shelter Stone itself takes its name from a huge rock high up in the Cairngorm mountains...well worth a climb but a map, good boots and warm jacket are well advised. There are many superb walks nearby..whether you are a novice or a Munro bagger!!
