Photos and Description of this Shropshire holiday house Luxury 4 double bedroom self-catering accommodation in gardens with woodland

Sitting on the edge of the village of Newcastle in the rural Clun valley, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, the Old School is a luxury conversion of the former village school built in 1830. Exposed beams, a triple height sitting room, wooden and stone floors all give a feeling of space, light and room to relax. The dining room seats 10 in comfort. Set in 3 acres land - courtyard, gardens and woods on the side of the valley, you may feel you don't want to go out and explore at all. The house offers a perfect rural retreat for up to 8 people. The Clun valley nestles in the wilds of the Shropshire hills. See buzzards circling high above the valley floor. Climb the hills and you may see red kites. Whether its for walks and fresh air and historic towns or great food and home to a roaring fire, the Old School awaits your visit.

Family & Friends - special celebration

Review Submitted: July 28, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This is a top class property, beautifully located and very well equipped. It was a surprise party for my wife with people coming at different times of the week. Everybody loved the property and thought it had been beautifully designed to a high standard. The key holder lives next door and is extremely pleasant and helpful.
Just one point to note - the drive is extremely steep, so think twice about driving up it!! There is however loads of room to park on the adjacent road.

The written details of how to get there are accurate. The property was very clean on arrival and a welcome pack of milk, butter and eggs was provided. The layout is very spacious and well set out.

The owners are very straightforward to deal with.

The area is beautiful, is fantastic for walking and is very peaceful. There is a good pub in the village, Clun has a good range of facilities, including 2 fine and friendly pubs, a supermarket, butchers, tea rooms etc. There is a great supermarket at Craven Arms [Tuffins] and Ludlow is only 30 minutes away with all its foodie stuff. Bishops Castle is really worth a visit - it is picturesque, has a wide range of facilities including a terrific 2nd hand book/music shop. It also has 2 of the best home-brew pubs in Britain.

We highly recommend this property. As frequent users of rented holiday accommodation, we think it is one of the best we have stayed at.
