Within a 20 kilometre radius there is an enormous amounts to see and do, including Grimaud, Port Grimaud, St. Tropez and Pampelonne Beach with numerous beach side restaurants. Within the area there is go-karting, biking, tennis, water sports, sailing and helicopter rides. Golf is available at Vidauban and Beauvallon. Numerous vineyards throughout the area offer 'tastings' to passers-by, and building a holiday cellar can be both fun and informative. Every village and town holds weekly markets, St Tropez being the most glamorous while nearby Cogolin retains the feel of a more 'local' market. Location
The villa is in a rural and quiet setting about 2 kilometres south of the village of La Garde Freinet. La Garde Freinet is an ancient village that together with much of historical interest includes modern facilities such as a pharmacy, doctor's surgery, small supermarket, bakeries, picture galleries and petrol station, plus numerous restaurants across a good price range. Within and around the village there are a number of interesting and challenging walks. Like almost all the villages and towns in the area La Garde Freinet holds weekly markets.
Area
Grimaud is the next village to the south. Very picturesque and well preserved, it can become a bit overcrowded in high season. On the coast there is Port Grimaud, a most attractively designed 'port' for boat owners who like to look at their prize possession from their bedroom window. The beach offers an excellent selection of water sports. There is also tennis and go-carting available nearby. The big attraction of the area is St. Tropez. Its glamorous reputation continues to pull in large numbers of holiday makers and even larger yachts. With a big, modern marina off to one side, the harbour remains remarkably like it was when Bridget Bardot w as a girl. A visit to its market is strongly advised. Getting ahead of the fashion curve and competitive pricing means fast footwork at the stalls. For swimming and eating we would recommend taking the road to Pampelonne Beach. Numerous restaurants operate on the beach with private sun beds and tables. Sometimes expensive but always fun.
Other Activities There is golf at Vidauban and Beauvallon Outside St. Tropez is a large funfair that operates quite late into the night. Close by is a Geant Casino store that fully lives up to its name. It is huge and offers an excellent choice. A recommended trip is to the Grand Canyon du Verdon. There's canoeing, swimming and rock climbing plus the dramatic geological formations. Try taking a ferry to St. Tropez from Port Cogolin or St. Maxime. You'll have the same view as from a multi million dollar yacht.
