Additional information about rental rates

  • Price includes hot water, electricity & bed linen for the adult beds (Towels & beach towels not provided and we have found from experience that our guests prefer to bring their own specific bedding for the travel cot as required). Free parking is available close to the property (within 100 metres) but it can get busy in high season as the 12th century towns of East and West Looe were not designed for cars. This is a common theme in cornwall and it's Catch 22 as the quaint, ramshackle nature of the streets are part of the endearing charm. We personally park our car in busy periods at Hannafore - a free and safe location 7 minutes walk away with the benefit of a wonderful view of Looe. Reasonably priced metered parking is also close at hand.
20% deposit required with booking with balance payable in full 1 month prior to arrival date.
  • Book any 2 concurrent weeks and receive 10% discount on second week rate.
  • Short breaks are available at £70/night weekend and £50/night weekdays in low season with a minimum 3 night stay.

Notes: A travel cot is available at the cottage suitable up to age 2. Please bring your own linen for the travel cot - we find most people want to use their own bedding for their little ones. A high chair is provided at the cottage along with a step to enable access to sinks and Loo's for toddlers. There is also a good quality moveable stairgate available to ensure your childrens security. For children out of cots there is bed guard fitted to one of the single beds. The cottage is very family friendly (we use it regularly ourselves with our 3 year old son & 11 month old daughter). It is set out on 3 levels with the master and en-suite at the top of the house. Families (two adults and children) can easily utilize levels 1 and 2 for ease as there is ample space and the stairs are not overly steep, unlike many properties locally. The living area is also spacious. All facilities in the cottage are new - fridge/freezer, washing machine / tumbledryer, microwave, beds, bedding and all fittings.

Further details for this holiday cottage rental in Looe, United Kingdom

Locality: Polperro and Fowey with their lovely harbours are within walking distance for the energetic or can be reached easily by car or on one of the regular boat trips from Looe harbour. The Cornish Coast path passes right through Looe & offers some amazing coastal views & wonderful walks (west to Fowey and east to Rame Head). Boat trips also run to Looe Island where seal watching is a favourite pass-time. Glass bottomed boats also offer a window into the rich local aquatic environment. The fantastic Eden project along with the Lost Gardens of Heligan are less than an hour away. Rugged Dartmoor is a 45 minute drive & there are ample golf clubs in the area (St Mellion, Looe Down, Saltash, Portwrinkle, and Doublebois). Plymouth is a 30 minute drive away and offers the National Marine Aquarium, the Theatre Royal, Plymouth Dome & great shopping plus all the night life you would expect from a big city.

Families: Looe Monkey Sanctuary is a great favourite with children housing many rescued woolly monkeys in a wonderful wooded environment. 30 minutes by car is Kidz World - a fantastic indoor adventure zone for children from toddlers up because it rains in Cornwall too! There is an excellent donkey sanctuary with indoor / outdoor play at Gunnislake - a 25 minute drive away. There are two arcades in Looe that offer traditional children’s rides & 2p slots for that traditional British seaside holiday feel if that is your preference. Crab fishing is a brilliant pass-time for kids & parents alike. In the summer half an hour can easily fill a bucket with 100's of crabs & the quay is often lined with very competitive parents! Many of the restaurants in Looe offer an early sitting (5:30 to 6:00pm) which enables families with younger children to dine out in style without the need for a babysitter.

Sports: Fishermen amongst you will not be disappointed. Charters leave Looe (weather depending) & account for shark in the summer, pollock, conger & bass. This area of coast is rich with reefs & the shore fishing for bass especially on surface lures can be spectacular. For families, regular mackerel fishing trips leave the quay with all tackle provided. Looe has a diving school (Looe Divers) offering guided dives on local reefs & wrecks popular because of the fantastic water clarity & warmth. Surfing & canoeing are very popular in & around Looe and there is a great surf beach at Portwrinkle (20 minutes by car).

Dreamporth was in a great location - in the quiet part of Looe but close enough to everything that we wanted to do. Our 15 month old son loved the clean beach and there was lots to do in the immediate area without having to travel too far. We visited Polperro, Fowey, The Lost Gardens and The Eden Project. The sun was also out everyday which is always a bonus! Dreamporth had everything we needed and we'll definitely be going again.

Restored and renewed in Looe

Review Submitted: November 20, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We were really looking to get away from it all, with the dog as well, the cottage is well equipped, very close to the harbour with unusually large rooms for Looe, there is an excellent store directly opposite, so supplies were easy.

The stairs were not too steep and the master bedroom on the top floor is amazing, including the enormous shower.

It was a restful time and we have recommended this place to others.

If you like a sandy beach and you love fish then Looe is one of the best places in the South West for both. The cottage is in West Looe which is less busy and less commercial, and the oldest pub in Looe is a hundred yards away.

NB. The best place to park was on Hannanfore and walk back.

A Good Choice

Good times Germany
Review Submitted: November 15, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We were in the cottage for one week during the summer of '08. The cottage was very nicely decorated, clean, and the bedrooms were a nice size. The entrance is ground level and one needs to climb stairs only to get to the bedrooms and bathrooms. My mum who is near 70 is very fit and had no problems with the stairs. However, I doubt that most people of that age would be comfortable with the very steep stairs at the top of the house. Evenings we enjoyed the great stock of DVDs and games that the owner had for our use. Before the visit I contacted the owner with questions about parking, and received a prompt and helpful reply. One cannot park at the cottage, but we were able to drive up, unload our cases, then park at a big pay lot nearby. It was a good ten minute walk to the lot, but it was a pleasant walk along the water. We were able to pay for several days at a time and leave the car there overnights quite safely, as well as come and go with the car quite easily. The cottage was across from a well-stocked but small store and we were able to cater many of our own meals as we had planned. Though we had no view of the water, we were quite close to it, and on the quiet side of Looe. We needed to walk over a bridge to get to the bustling side. Of course we enjoyed the cream teas and the very short drives to Polperro and Lanhydrock. At Lanhydrok, the kids were provided with a game: to find the Thomas the Tank engine in each room, while the adults could enjoy the history and furnishings of the stately home. The tea room was beautiful as were the grounds. In Polperro the miniature world was very cool as well as the Pirate museum and an exhibition of local artists works. The Blue Peter was a great place to eat there. The day trip to Plymouth was wonderful, with lots to see and do including used book shops, great shopping, a boat ride of the harbor, and a memorial of where the Pilgrims left on their Mayflower voyage to America. The kids were very disappointed that we missed out on the aquarium because we had no idea how late in the day it was and we had arrived too late to make the admission price worth it. (It is quite expensive and needs at least half a day). During our holiday the kids loved the crab fishing off the quay near the cottage MOST OF ALL. If one is without a car, there is plenty to enjoy in Looe. I would recommend this property to a friend because it was quite comfortable and roomy for our family of 5.

In a very good spot close to the harbour and not at the top of the many hills which surround it. My husband found the ceilings a little low in the living area but he is 6'4'. The top room of the cottage is spectacular with a fantastic shower.

Pity there's no outside space
