Atmospheric apartment in beautiful Dordogne.

We have WiFi in our first floor, heavily beamed self-contained apartment - a conversion of ancient tobacco barns and forestry buildings with views over the garden and river valley. The luxurious double bedroom is huge with a 160cms bed and further small double antique bed. It has an en suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a 140cms bed. There is a separate shower room, lounge (BBC freewave) with double sofa bed, and kitchen/dining room. Outside there is an 11x5 alarmed and gated pool with wide terracing for sunbathing. The property is only a few minutes from the Bergerac wine area with its chateaux, only an hour from the wine city of Bordeaux and the world heritage site, St Emilion... There are plenty of play areas for children with river and lake beaches with exciting water slides only a few kilometres away by car. The area is a walkers' paradise with marked walks opposite the property. In our own field, there are wild orchids in the spring.

Wine buffs can be among the vines in 30 minutes visiting top chateaux and stocking the car with regional delights. The grande etang (lake) of La Jamaye is 18 kms away with excellent facilities for children of all ages, pedalos and safe swimming. Other rivers nearby have smaller beaches, some with exciting water slides. An hour away on the A89 is the beautiful city of Bordeaux where you can learn its wine history, search its fantastic designer shops or take a trip on the river. Superb restaurants and pavement cafes are everywhere. Less far is the Dordogne's 'county' town Periguex, seeped in roman history with its very own atmospheric lanes to wander. You can shop 'til you drop here too! Walking too is a more peaceful pleasure - bring your dog.

Spring and autumn are beautiful in Dordogne

Close to the hilltop village of Douzillac, this charming apartment is part of a sympathetic renovation of a 19thc farmhouse and 18th century forestry buildings latterly used for drying tobacco. The property nestles against the leafy presence of la Double with immediate neighbours farming families producing, by traditional methods; veal, foie gras and the strawberries for which the area is famous. Bergerac airport is 35 minutes and the beautiful city of Bordeaux, global wine capital, is an hour's drive on the A89 motorway - junction 13 is 11kms away. The TGV stops at Libourne - a 40 minute trip. The self-contained 80msq, apartment is over the main part and to the rear of the main house and looks over the pretty gardens towards the pool. It has two double bedrooms, one en suite, kitchen/diningroom,shower/WC and lounge. To the front - a small patio area with a picturesque pond/ water feature. The apartment is centrally heated by radiators and available for Christmas/new year.
