Les Chenes is a spacious holiday house which has been fully renovated . It is between Chablis & Beaune & is ¼ mile down a leafy lane from the village of Rouvray, in the Morvan Park, Burgundy .It sits proudly in large gardens, with an orchard of cherry and apple trees, a large swimming pool with sunbathing terraces and is surrounded by fields and beautiful views down an agricultural valley with sunsets to die for. The gardens have sun all day but there are several large trees to rest and dine under.There is a wood shed with 2 swings, a large trampoline and a fire pit in the garden. The Morvan Park is an all season area & not a summer tourist place where everything shuts down out of season. This is a really old part of France and all the villages are working villages, the out door sports are all year round and the restaurants are always busy with the locals and weekenders down from Paris who use this area as the British use the Lake District...you will leave it loving i

Rouvray village is perfectly sited in the Morvan National Park ,Burgundy. It has easy access to Dijon, Auxerre, Chablis, Beaune,Vezelay & Flavigny (the home of the film Chocolat). Rouvray is a rustic French village and yet it has a bakery, pizzeria, 2 bars, 2 restaurants, a supermarket, petrol station, florists & hairdressers. It is a friendly village & also has some lovely walks by the river, an etang & some wonderful architecture & Roman features. It also has a large boules area under an avenue of lime trees. It is a good area for activity holidays and wine trails. The Morvan National Park offers everything for the outdoors, with many Lakes and rivers covering all watersports. There are regular village fetes, car boot sales, music festivals and a week of celebrations for the Bastille are incredible. The area is wonderful through all the seasons, spring and autumn are particularly beautiful. Avallon is the nearest major town (10 minutes drive) it holds 2 excellent food markets.

Notes: Kitchen: Large & well equipped, Seperate utility room. Open plan ground floor gives a huge interactive area sub divided with oak beams into kitchen, dining room and lounge. The gardens are large with areas for badminton, trampolining and bowls. The pool is railed off for security and has a privacy hedge to screen from the lane at the top of the gardens. There is a fire pit and a BBQ, a large table and chairs and a breakfast table and chairs on the top garden plus a swing chair.

Les Chenes: The 4 metre x 9 metre swimming pool is sunk into a terraced area with hedges and screens making it very private. It has the sun all day and has sunbathing areas on all sides and lovely views across the valley on one side. There is a barbeque area with a huge table and chairs set next to the pool and well with plenty shady trees to dine under and watch the sunsets next to a lovely fire pit. There is a huge car parking area and plenty space for football, badminton etc, with 2 swings in the wood store, a large trampoline and a fire pit. (Please note that we DO NOT accept any responsibility for injuries sustained whilst using the swings, trampoline or fire pit, if you wish for any of them to be removed please let us know.) Les Chenes sits on a tiny lane just outside the village so it is nice and quiet and it is lovely to stroll down the lane for a mile or so to see the horses at the bottom and carry on through the woods or round to the etang .It is a gentle stroll into the village.

Other Activities: Badminton,Bird watching,boules, canoing,painting, go karting,gourmet dining, shopping,sightseeing,wine tasting,tree adventure park.

We were pleasantly surprised by just how large this property was, the photos dont do it justice.Fantastic open plan kitchen,lounge/diner with plenty of space for everyone (there were 9 of us) & the separate utility room with washing machine & dryer came in very handy.The master bedroom with onsuite & balcony views was lovely, the two single rooms bright & modern, & the other two double debrooms were more dated but still with ample space & storage.Having another bathroom upstairs & one down was great- particularly with 3 children & two teenagers! From the moment we woke til bedtime the kids wanted to be in the pool - it was great to have one to ourselves & plenty of sunloungers to watch them from+ patio sets in the shade. We spent most of our two weeks in the pool & garden - there was no need to leave! having said that if you are looking for things to do you would need a car as only countryside around you & a small village for shopping. There was a pizza restaurant & a takeaway in the village but these werent open for the 2wks while we were around + bars & bistro but we didnt use them so cant comment.
We made good use of the bbq & toasted marshmallows over the firepit most evenings. Our girls loved feeding the horses in the field adjoining the back garden & watching them from the window.There is a dvd player & satilite tv (no sports channels) so kids could still watch some telly although we spent hours playing board games & cards.
If you are looking for a relaxing getaway for a large family/group this is ideal, we would book again for next year but are going with friends & need somewhere bigger!
