Le Presbytere is a 19th Century former priest’s house. Fully restored and refurbished for 2008, with 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms & a large, private 11m swimming pool. Sleeps 12. Suitable for well-behaved children. This elegant stone house is on the edge of the hamlet of Brezilhac, 20 minutes SW of the historic city of Carcassonne. It enjoys uninterrupted views across vineyards and sunflowers to the Pyrenees. Within the secluded gardens there is a large terrace and shaded pergola ideal for dining al fresco. A children's swing set is situated to the side of the lawn. There is private parking for three cars. The interior is stylish and comfortable. Simple white walls and flagstone floors mix with the dark wood of the original features to give a cool and airy feel behind the powder blue shutters on hot summer days. There are bakers,cafes, pharmacy, farm shop & supermarket within a 5-10 mins drive & various villages/small towns with a range of restaurants & vineyards within 15 mins.

The historic walled city of Carcassonne is just twenty minutes away, as is the medieval market town of Mirepoix. The Canal du Midi Meanders close-by, with Castelnaudary (famous for cassoulet) also about twenty minutes from the house. And just to the South is Limoux - famous for 'Blanquette' - a sparkling white wine, popular in the region. Vineyards surround the village of Brezilhac and there are plenty of good local domains to visit and sample their wines. A trip into the Pyrenees takes you into the heart of 'Cathar Country' with its dramatic scenery of mountains, gorges and castles - made famous by the novels The Da Vinci Code and Labyrinth. In winter there is also skiing - the best local resort is Bonascre at Ax-les-Thermes - just over an hour away. Or, you could head east for an hour to the coast of the Mediterranean and the beaches of Valras-Plage or La Franqui.
