This large, impressive villa (3,000 sq. ft) with pool, summer kitchen/outside dining, terraces and a boules court in grounds of 7.5 acres, surrounded by vineyards and orchards outside the renowned, perched village of Venasque - between Carpentras and Gordes - has wonderful views of Mt. Ventoux. The property is peaceful and private, accessed by electronic gates and drive, with spacious gardens and natural terrain. Venasque, designated, 'one of the most beautiful villages in France', has a fascinating history and is a minute's drive or a picturesque walk away. The villa has 4 attractive bedrooms, in two wings, accessed by separate staircases allowing for more privacy. There is a large salon; small salon and dining area; fully-fitted kitchen; utility room; and cloakroom off the hall. The villa is decorated to a high standard with Provencal fabrics, furniture and new carpets. The summer kitchen is for cooking and dining beside the pool, and there are a number of terraces to enjoy.

The charming village of Venasque dominates the Nesque valley and the Carpentras plain, with wonderful views of Mt. Ventoux and the Dentelles of Montmirail. It has an interesting history as the former capital of the Comtat Venaisson, and its famous baptistry, 12th century church and three Saracen towers all have historic classification. It is ideally situated for Avignon, the Luberon, Camargue, Arles, Nimes, the Pont du Gard, Orange, Chateauneuf du Pape and the wine villages of the Cote du Rhone. The surrounding area is wonderful for nature and outdoor activities; for culture and art lovers, and also for those who enjoy good food and wine. You will find numerous vineyards; cherry, apricot and olive orchards; daily markets with local, fresh produce (herbs, goat cheese, honey, nougat, etc).; and the famous Provencal lavender fields. Nearby are many attractive villages to explore, and there is a multitude of activities to pursue - not forgetting the great art of relaxation!

High Summer in Provence

Have just returned from 2 week holiday at this villa:two english families with young children which was planned to coincide with the Tour de France summit finish on Mont Ventoux in July 209, to see Messieurs Contador, Armstrong and our own dear Bradley Wiggins.

The house is great- very spacious indeed and well equipped.Breakfast on the morning terrace and dinner at the summer kitchen dining area.We made regular use of the built in BBQ.

As the weather was very hot the pool man made extra visits to ensure everything was in order.A cleaner came midweek which helped , given the children!

Lots to do with familes nearby - eg canoeing on the river Sorgue and a "Go Ape" type high wire park (Passerelles de Cimes) both at Fontaine de Vaucluse, and for wine lovers no shortage of great vineyards nearby or with a short drive, eg Gigondas/Chateauneuf de Pape.

Re restaurants, we can recommend Mas de Bonoty at St Didier, and Chez Serge in Carpentras.

As there are so many summer festivals in the area, no shortage of culture.A trip to Sault is well worth it at July time due to wonderful lavender fields in area.

This is my family's 12th summer holiday in a row in this area of Vaucluse, but the first at this villa , and I highly recommend both.

Wonderfully peaceful with great views

Stunning views of Mont Ventoux. Comfortable well equipped house, well cared for and the summer kitchen makes it easy to eat outside and find shade. Endless different places to visit but you do need a car.

Late September in Provence

The villa is beautifully furnished and well located in Venasque which is an area right between the Cote de Rhone and the Luberon valley where we travelled to daily markets and cafes in perfect weather. The town of St Didier which is 5 minutes away from the villa had excellent butchers, bakeries and general groceries available daily.

We spent most mornings exploring various nearby towns, eating lunch in a local cafes and would relax and enjoy the villa in the late afternoons preparing most of our own dinners in the large, open fully stocked kitchen. We also had a few outdoor lunches at the villa with an unobstructed views of the countryside and Mt. Ventoux in the distance.

The owners of the villa provided us in advance and when we arrived with lots of helpful suggestions on restaurants, markets, wine tastings and sites worth seeing in the surrounding area. They also checked in with us to make sure that we were comfortable and answer any questions we might have.

We would highly recommend this villa to other travellers who are looking for a well maintained and well located property with privacy and beautiful views of the countryside as well as all the the comforts needed to have a relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable holiday.

Spectacular

Venasque Villa is an exceptional country home with superb amenities and easy access to the many local historic sites, spectacular villages and wine regions. Most noteworthy was the peacefulness, privacy, and spectacular view of Mount Ventoux. The patios are grand and pool area immaculately kept. The decor is simply splendid.

Nearby restaurants are abundant; boulangeries, charcuteries, patisseries and grocery shops also readily accessible.

As two couples on vacation we thoroughly enjoying every moment of our stay. Since returning home to Canada I receive e-mails from the other couple saying how they miss breakfast and dinner with us on the patio at Venasque Villa.
