Hyde View Cottage is Grade II listed and provides charming accommodation. It combines a wealth of character with the luxury and convenience of modern living. It has been recently refurbished and interior designed to a high standard. The cottage is built from local Purbeck stone and dates back to c1840. It has beamed ceilings throughout, 2 large open real fires, separate lounge and dining room, and a large garden. Located in the peaceful village of Langton Matravers, 2 miles from the very popular beach resort of Swanage. Set amongst magnificent rolling hills and near to the picturesque, award winning Jurassic coastline. Within 3 minutes walk of the cottage you will find plenty to entertain - from the petting farm, indoor activity centre and outdoor 'swings' for children to some of the UK's best country and coastal walks, and two traditional pubs. Great for families, but also very romantic for couples.

- West Dorset has stunning coastline, peaceful countryside and character towns. This area is also great for shoppers looking for excellent local produce and handcrafted goods. - The established seaside resort of Swanage is conveniently situated near Bournemouth and Poole via the chain link ferry across the mouth of Poole harbour, just a few miles away. Swanage's safe sandy beach offers amongst other things, board sailing, water skiing, 'banana' rides, scuba diving and a traditional Punch and Judy show. The Steam Railway, run by enthusiasts, links Swanage with Corfe Castle and Norden and occasionally Thomas the Tank Engine and he Fat Controller visit. - Langton Matravers is a beautiful, small, unspoilt stone village with only local traffic going through it. There is a wonderful Petting Farm and indoor Kid's Play Centre 3 minutes walk away.

  • The bathroom is on the first floor and is modern with a powerful shower overhead and another with the bath taps. It overlooks the garden and has slopping ceilings. Those staying in the Twin Bedroom need to walk through the Single Bedroom to get to the bathroom or can use their own staircase and go back up the other small staircase.

  • All the bedrooms have the original wood flooring covered with Persian rugs. The Double Bedroom is large and the Twin Bedroom is a good size - both have relatively high ceilings and large windows for a cottage of this period. The Single Bedroom is small with slopping ceilings and an Antique French bed which would not suit a tall adult, but is perfect for a 'Petite' adult. There is very limited storage space in this bedroom. This bedroom also has 2 doors which link the 2 separate staircases. People in the Twin Bedroom can access the bathroom via this small bedroom or go down their staircase and back up the other.

LOCAL ATTRACTIONS: In the early July of each year the Jazz Festival takes place, along with the Carnival and Regatta Week at the end of July/ beginning of August and the Folk Festival in September. The New Year street celebrations in Swanage are rumoured to be the best in the country outside Trafalgar Square and Scotland. This relatively unspoilt area has all the attractions required by the modern family within easy reach. Durlston Country Park is one of the places in Britain to see Bottle Nosed Dolphins. Langton Matravers has one small grocery store that also acts as Post Office and 2 pleasant village pubs. There is also a wonderful Petting Farm and kids' play centre 3 minutes walk from the cottage with lots of animals that children can touch and baby goats and lambs to bottle feed (subject to season). There are plenty of great restaurants and coffee shops in Swanage and in all the adjoining villages. Specific recommendations will be provided after booking.

We were delighted with the property which was clean, comfortable and stylish. We all felt immediately at home and relaxed.
The owners had obviously spent time and effort in assuring that all needs were catered for including our little 2 year old granddaughter who loved investigating the toys and puzzles. She also loved the bed by the little window.
We investigated the garden which provided a BBQ and adequate seating for adults and children. Unfortunately, we could not avail ourselves of its facilities as the weather was inclement, however, there was lots to do in the area. We appreciated the booklets and the recommendations for eating places - all of which were good to excellent.

Lovely cosy cottage

We had a lovely stay at this cottage. The owners were very accommodating (it was a last minute break away, we only gave them 3 days notice). It is in a lovely area close to some great attractions and had everything you could need. We were even surprised to find some toys for younger children so my 2 year old son was happy. It is a typical old cottage so low ceilings and my husband said he was getting a stiff neck by the end of the stay from ducking all the time, but I thought it added to the charm!
It has been beautifully and tastefully refurbished and all in all we had a great time.
