Escape into rustic Chianti Rufina and enjoy the timeless pleasures of Tuscany - less than 30 min from Florence! This small group of buildings was once part of the first line of defences of Renaissance Florence. Now on a working vineyard, they have been converted to create an attractive villa and apartments. Situated in a prestigious Florentine estate which produces an impressive Chianti, there is a panoramic hilltop castle within walking distance. Florence is an easy train ride away, saving the headache of city parking. If you are travelling in a group of up to 5, select the tab for Villa, the converted barn with two spacious panoramic terraces, two double bedrooms and bathrooms. For 2 people, you can choose between Cipresso, a mini apartment with kitchenette, or Alba and Vista, which both have full kitchens and separate bedroom. All apartments have their own private terrace with views across the valley.

Alba is a well-equipped holiday apartment for two people. Furnished in a fresh but traditional style, it consists of a kitchen-living area, bedroom and bathroom. The furnishing and walls are in neutral elegant tones. You enter the kitchen-living area via the private terrace with stunning views of a medieval watch tower, olive trees and distant hills. Garden furniture makes the terrace an ideal place for meals. The kitchen-living area has four ring gas hob, hood, electric oven, large fridge and low noise dishwasher. An antique walnut table seats up to 8. There is a comfortable sofa. The bedroom is light and airy with a large wardrobe and a traditional barn window with beautiful views. The bathroom is contemporary with designer fittings and Italian stone tiles and has a shower unit and separate bathtub. The pretty window above the bathtub looks onto olive trees and distant hills.

The 2 main airports in Tuscany (Pisa and Florence) are easily accessible . Short breaks are feasible all year round! You'll know you have made an escape from routine, though, when you drive down the winding approach road. You pass through vineyards with a historic castle and our property above you in the distance. You are now in the Nipozzano estate of the noble Florentine family of Frescobaldi. From your apartment, a pleasant walk, with superb views, will take you up to the castle. There the wine is aged in the historic cellars and you can taste and buy all Frescobaldi wines. Numerous other panoramic walks dot the area (the historic monastery of Vallombrosa is not far either). For renaissance culture, we are near Florence and Arezzo. Regular trains from Pontassieve station (5 minutes away) to central Florence take only 20-25 minutes. Alternatively, designer outlet discounts from Gucci, YSL, Todds etc are to be found at the Mall, outside Leccio, 15 minutes away.

Approach Road: Please note that there is a 1km rough, farm road to approach the property. The surface of the road is in loose stone and not tarmac. Most of our guests arrive in small hire cars without problems. Ask us for more information if you are concerned.

For sure, the best place we have ever rent for our holidays!
The villa is wonderful, restored in good taste, very cosy and fully equipped. The entire furniture is well-kept or new, and is all spruced up. There are two nice patios who look out onto the Tuscany hills and the panorama surpasses the postcards’ one.
Jane and her husband gave us a warm welcome (and gifted us the best tomatoes – from their kitchen garden – I ever ate!) and were adorable during the whole week (always hearty and available, but also unobtrusive).
The place is perfect for taking in the Tuscany sights : the trains at the Pontassieve station (10 minutes by car) lead to Firenze, and Fiesole, Arrezo et Siena are accessible by car.
