Bed Linen/Towels/Cleaning:
Bed linen and towels (not beach towels) are provided and changed once a week, when the house is cleaned. The pool is cleaned at least once a week.
Outside:
Open and covered terraces surround the house on three sides, to provide a variety of situations for dining, sunbathing and relaxing. All have wonderful views, either to the sea, the mountains, or the garden.
The kidney shaped pool is about 9m long. The steps into the pool and the initial depth are fine for older children, but young children must be accompanied by adults. A fence ,with a bolted door, is fitted on the terrace that gives access to the pool terrace. This is intended to stop very young children reaching the pool unaccompanied.
The house has many fir trees in the 3 acres (12,000 sq.m.) of grounds, being part of a woodland conservation area that slopes away from the house. There are lovely walks in this woodland, going along the hilltop or down to the river in the valley. In summer, this hill top position usually has sea breezes that bring welcome relief from the heat and the gentle rustle of the pines invites a siesta.
All doors and windows have mosquito screens fitted.
Travel:
Altea is reached from Alicante Airport to the South in about 1 hour by car. Valencia, to the North, lies about 90 minutes away, also by the A7 motorway. Murcia airport is now also used, but it takes about 2 hours by the A7 to reach Altea.
There are good public transport services in the area and a narrow gauge railway runs from the beach area of Alicante to Denia, calling at Altea. It makes an interesting excursion.
A car is certainly desirable, especially in the summer months.
Golf:
Altea has a golf course that is open to visitors. It is about 15 minutes by car from the house. There are other courses in the neighborhood. Contact for details.
