La Greze at Masquieres

Set in beautiful countryside this is an intensely rural and agricultural area. There is a working farm nearby owned for generations by the Bouyssou family. Ducks, geese and chickens roam with the family pet roe deer. Cows wander in for milking and cats doze in the sun. Madame Bouyssou will be more than happy to sell you some fresh eggs. La Greze is two minutes walk from Masquieres which is tiny: no shops, no bars, just a small church, a Mairie and a Salle de Fete surrounding the square, shaded from the midday heat by plane trees. Absolute bliss.

Local restaurants and shops

There are numerous good restaurants in the area - Le Beffoi and Le Voyageur at Tournon d'Agenais, a Routier at St Matre, La Rouge Passion and Le Vert at Mauroux, Le Bar Central at Rocquecor. The nearest shops are ten minutes drive away at Tournon d'Agenais and Mauroux. If you want a local bar try the one at Saux only 1 kilometre away. There is a large supermarket (Leclerc) at Montarayal on the outskirts of Fumel (20 minutes by car). Throughout the week there are local markets at Libos, Montaigu de Quercy, Montcuq, Prayssac and many others.

You can sample the local Cahors wine at numerous Chateaux vineyards. Check at any Office de Tourisme. You can also obtain information about where you can swim in several fresh water lakes nearby.
