Further details for this holiday apartment rental in Rome, Italy

Trastevere: While Rome entices with its extraordinary monuments, Trastevere, one of its many distinct neighbourhoods, captures the traveler's heart. Trastevere, which translates literally to 'across the Tiber,' was once considered the outskirts of Rome. Allowed to develop its own flavor and now part of the historic centre, it's the perfect place to glimpse a bit of the old world while still enjoying the lifestyle of today's Romans. Equidistance from the Coliseum and the Vatican, Trastevere is an ideal place to make a home base. The most popular gathering place in the area is Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere. Dating back to the 3rd century, the church of Santa Maria in Trastevere is the oldest in the city. Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere could be called the piazza that never sleeps: street performers entertain crowds into the wee hours with music, fire juggling, acrobatics and comic skits. A huge flea market is held in Trastevere's Porta Portese each Sunday morning, it is the biggest in Italy.

Comfortable and Easy

Paul and Stephen Philadelphia, PA, USA
Review Submitted: November 17, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We absolutely loved this apartment. The location was ideal for our 2 week long stay in the eternal city. Away from the chaos of the city center, yet close enough to walk to and convenient to public transportation. We found the accomodations to be very comfortable and spacious. A well appointed kitchen enabled us to take advantage of the nearby market and stores to cook in a few nights.
Thank you Paolo and Carmen for being such gracious hosts. Your advice on restaurants and activities was very much appreciated. We hope to stay there again on our return to Rome someday soon.

Family accommodation in Rome

Family HG Reading, UK
Review Submitted: September 11, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We stayed in Trastevere in August, when it was very hot! Air-conditioning units were excellent. Apartment is in a great location - far enough from the centre and main attractions for some peace, but close enough to walk to all the main sights. Apartment is very easy to find and we used the train from the airport to Trastevere station then the number 8 tram and then a short walk to the apartment.
We only used public transport on the first day, after which we realised how close to the centre we were and how compact Rome centre is.
The negatives are that there are basic catering facilities, enough for breakfasts and light meals, however some more side plates and decent glasses for a Peroni would have been welcome! Some of the furniture is a bit tired and the walls would welcome a new coat of paint, hence the 4-star rating not 5.
On a positive note the kitchen has a large fridge with a reasonable ice-box. Perfect for ice-cream!
The small bedroom doesn't have any air-conditioning and did get quite warm, but the living room and main bedroom soon cooled when the air-conditioning units were used.
Views from the living room are stunning. Having a broadband connection was helpful as we took a laptop with us and could research where to go the following day.
Several reasonable supermarkets in the area, within a few minutes walk. Lots of great eating places in Trastevere, so you don't need to go too far for a decent meal. Try Carlo Menta for a good reasonable priced meal, with great service. As for ice-cream try the little shop next to the side entrance of Oviesse department store, lots of flavours!
And finally the check-in and check-out was very flexible, thank you Paolo for letting us arrive early and depart late. Much appreciated.
Owner's Response: Thanks, it was important for me to have your review, even if it was not fully positive, like the others were.I already bought some new equipment for the kitchen, including more glasses and dishes. I also fixed some furniture and will soon have the bathroom's ceiling painted, that actually needs it, due to a small damage caused by a problem in the upper floor apartment's plumbing, still not fixed.

Tranquil apartment in Trastevere

Review Submitted: August 14, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
I love staying in this area of Rome, so quiet, yet so close to everything, just a meander down the street and your dining options are endless. You can easily get lost in the history of the area, and transportation to others is close at hand. The apartment was a tranquil oasis for myself and my parents, and we thank Paolo for the opportunity to stay in this here. An added bonus was the information and recommendations available. We will definately keep this apartment in mind for future stays !

Trastevere Apartment

Alison and Mark Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Review Submitted: March 21, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We had a wonderful time staying in your beautiful flat and we really enjoyed wondering around Trastevere and across the river to see some of the wonders of Rome. We loved the apartment, mostly because it had a character and atmosphere all of its own but also because it was warm (our stay was in early March), well equipped and in a fabulous location. I also very much appreciated the ease of booking it and the flexibility of being able to arrive in the early hours of the morning. We threw our coins in the Trevi fountain so perhaps we'll be back again one day!
I'd recommend this apartment for anyone who wants to be near to the centre of Rome, getting a glimpse of day to day life but not actually in the thick of the tourist areas. Everything is in walking distance or there is good public transport.

Great Location

We stayed in this apartment in November and enjoyed it very much. The location is excellent with a 10-15 min walk to the centre of Rome. The street is residential and extremely quiet and safe. The apartment is very secure. It was plenty big enough for 2 adults and 2 children and the kitchen was adequate for preparing breakfast and the odd meal( although I prefer to eat out ). There is a supermarket near by and the surrounding area is charming and quaint. The free internet was very handy also. I would not hesitate to stay here on my return to Rome. The owners were extremely helpful and obliging.
