Photos and Description of this Otranto holiday villa Guest House beautifully restored for 6 people.

This fantastic Guest House is part of a bigger property of a Salentino Palazzo dating 1762. This part has been added reflecting the style of an Old Masseria.The milano based architect reproduced the same design of Masserias using all local stone and material. It has a loft style living/kithcen room with a fire place and a big table that can sit up to 16 people. Hanging on the walls large art works belonging to the private collection of the owners and some design objects. There is a bedroom in the main floor with a bathroom. There is a very nice external stair that leads to a panoramic terrace and 2 bedrooms and one very large bathroom. There is also a basement with an extra bathroom.

The house is in Giurdignano, a very small village of 1000 inhabitants situated in the beautiful country side surrounded by olive trees just 6 km away from the beautiful sea of Otranto. It is famous for the presence of megalithic monuments dolmen or menhir, of the archaeological site called 'Le Centoporte', of several crypts, of which the most famous the church-cripta of San Salvatore, of two hipogean tombs of the Neolithic period (II millennium B.C.). The house is situated in the centre of town, next to the lovely piazza with a church and other historic palaces and walking distance from coffee bars, restaurants, bakery and supermarkets. It is just 5 minutes away by car from the port and beaches of OTRANTO (famous for the mosaic of its Cathedral) and 15 minutes from the natural Park of the Alimini where you can do some bird watching. Very close is also the Baia dei Turchi beach with white sand and sculpture huge rocks that have shapes of sculptures.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Any day changeover apart from July & August which are Saturdays only. There is a deposit cheque of €1000 to be given at the beginning of the stay and will be returned at the end if there have been no damages to the house. Time of check in: 3p.m. Time of check out: 10a.m. In lower season these hours can be more flexible.

    There is the possibility to rent only the Guest House with 3 rooms and 3 bathrooms and the large kitchen/living with a fireplace and have private use of the pool and the courtyard with the huge palm tree. The price range from 900 to 3000 per week. There will be exclusive use of the pool if you rent only the Guest House and nobody will be staying in the other part of the property.
  • The rent should be paid in two instalments. The first one is of 40% of the rent. The first instalment is due within 10 days of the issuing of the confirmation of rental done by email and the second one is due three weeks before the beginning of the let. In case of rentals entered into within 40 days of the beginning of the let, the whole sum is due at the time of reservation.
  • Final cleaning is not included in the rent. You must pay 100 Euros at your arrival if you only use the main floor and 150 for the 2 floors. On departure the house and its contents should be left in a tidy state. Tableware should be washed and the refrigerator and any dishwasher emptied. The grills should also be washed and put in place.Electricity is extra due to air conditioning and heating during the winter.

  • In the Guest House 3 big bathrooms with nice showers and big lavabos. The bathrooms are done in original Salentinian stone called Pietra Leccese and the counters in Coccio Pesto which is another traditional way to work the stone. The WC area with shower is separated from the sink area with mirror.

Notes: The house has a small pool in the courtyard with no fences around. There is air conditioning is only in the Guest House.There are 2 fridges in the house and an ice machine for the cocktails. There is a fireplace for BBQs in the kitchens so it is not necessary to do it outside. It is possible, upon request, to have a maid service daily. Usually the fee is 8-10 euros per hour. We can also arrange for a cook or chauffeur upon request. We can provide high chairs and baby beds at 25 euros per week. There is a daily gardener that comes in the house every day to fix the pool and to water the plants. He is willing to take and pick up people from/to airport or railway station for a fee that will be agreed with the customer.

Rent part of the property: During off peak season (not July and August) people can rent either only the Old Part (12 people) or only the Guest House (6 people). In both cases they would have exclusive access to the pool area, they will never share the pool with other customers. The price will be discussed individually according to the number of people.

fantastic Masseria in a quiet village

The house has a great atmosphere, a mix of a maroccan riad and a masseria, beautiful stone everywhere and nice taste of the owners. The house is very well equipped and confortable, spacy rooms and quiet. The village is so friendly and people are great. We had a fantastic experience and will really wanto to go back.
I will never forget those beautiful afternoons around the pool under the huge palm tree. The bedrooms are confortable and especially the beds, the bell of the church strikes often but you get used to it after a while. There is always a nice breeze in the house even during the hot summer nights. There are 2 great kitchens and a very nice fireplace for barbeques. The house has a lot of movement so it is big enough not to disturb each other. The housekeeper is just perfect, he brings occasionally fresch vegetable from his vegetable garden and fresh baked bread, his wife is a great cook so she cooked for us several dinners that were a real Pugliese experience. They really take good care of the house and always come when you need some help and information. In the house the booklet of information provides details on restaurants, bike and boat rentals and any kind of tour that you would like. we had a great Wine tour of salento and a yoga class in the house that was a must. The ice machine works very well and it is perfectly equipped for dring lovers. The art pieces are very interesting and it gives a good sense of esthetic. If you don't like light is is bit of a problem because there are only few rooms that become really dark during the night. I hope to come back to Giurdignano one day.
