A 2 Bedroom penthouse apartment with 2 bathrooms, lounge and fully equipped kitchen. This apartment offers its own private roof top sun terrace, along with a separate balcony overlooking the communal pool. The apartment is situated in a small village, Cabanas; about 4km from Tavira in the Eastern Algarve, which is about 30min drive from Faro airport. Although car hire is not essential, we would strongly recommend it in order to explore the surrounding area, with the Spanish border being only a 30min drive away. The apartment is on a shared complex with access to a communal pool and a separate children pool. From here the lovely sandy beach at Cabanas is a 15min walk. Here you will find some delightful bars and restaurants and a local supermarket.

Car: recommended
With just a 15 min walk to the shops, bars, cafes and beach, the nearest airport to Cabanas is Faro and it is approximately a 35 minute drive; taxis and car hire are available from the airport and a local rail service a 5 minute walk from the apartment, the apartment is ideally placed for your holiday location, with no aircraft fly-overs. A half hr drive will take you across the Spanish border. Car hire is not essential if you just want a relaxing holiday, but recommended if you wish to explore the Algarve more fully or venture into Spain. The motorway IP1/A22 now runs the length of the Algarve making the Western Algarve very convenient to explore. There is a small tourist office in the village where you can book coach trips to nearby water parks or take a trip to the beautiful and historic city of Seville just an hour or so away.

Cabanas Area: Cabanas de Tavira is a small and friendly village with a reliance on the fishing industry. Whilst filled with a number of shops, restaurants and bars, a welcoming atmosphere is evident without a 'heavy tourist' approach. Cabanas beach is located on the far side of the Ria Formosa and is reached by small water taxis which are reasonably priced. When staying in Cabanas a visit to the beautiful Town of Tavira is essential, which is only 5-10 mins away. Here you will find many fine 18th Century buildings, 37 Churches and a large range of restaurants and shops, mixing both the old and the new elements of the Algarve. The town is steeped in history with known roots reaching as far back as 2000 B.C. A Roman bridge links the two parts of the town across the River Gilão, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal, to suit all tastes.

General: Ideally located between Faro airport 35km away and the Spanish Border also only 35km away, Cabanas is the perfect place for all sorts of holidays, from beach and family holiday breaks to great golf and cycling breaks. Tavira being host to a top European cycling team who use the local terrain as superb practice facilities, all on the doorstep of Cabanas. Of course the golf courses are world renowned, with a host of championship courses locally available, where best to have that golf break.

Beach: If you take 15 minute walk from the apartment it will bring you to the pretty waterfront of Cabanas. From here you will be able to take a 2 minute boat ride over to beautiful Cabanas beach, which has 3km of amazing white sand. Cabanas beach is a beautiful naturally formed island separated from the mainland by the River Formosa. Boats cost 1 Euro return per person and run throughout the day. The beach has its own changing facilities, parasols, sun beds and cafe bar.

Golf: The apartment is ideally located for golfers - 5 minutes from the top rated Quinta da Cima/Quinta Ria courses, which are a good test even for low handicappers and a just a good 3 wood away from the more relaxing Benamor course. Benamor is the kind of course you want to play on a golfing break, it has some really beautiful holes and great greens which are straight and true, but more importantly you don’t feel like you are being punished by the green keepers, as some of the courses in the Algarve are set out for the more serious golfer. Benamor is there to enjoy and to come back and play time and again. However if you are trying to become the next Tiger those courses are also available with, the famous courses at Vilamoura, Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and Islantilla Golf Course which has hosted the Spanish Open, easily reached in 30 to 45 minutes via the A22 motorway. With the Spanish Border only a short step away why not pop over to Spain and play the new Esuri course which is 20 minutes away via the A22 motorway. This part of the Algarve is a perfect spot to act as your home for some fantastic Golf trips, for both high and low handicappers, senior and junior golfers, the choice of courses are staggering and the local welcome is second to none.

GREAT APERTMENT

The apartment was well equiped with all you would need for a self catering holiday and more. It was very clean, beds were comfy and the complex was well maintained. The only draw back was not enough beds round the pool which was'nt a major problem for us as we had a car and went out every day. The beaches were all clean with miles of sand, what more can you ask. We caught the train into Tavira most nights which was cheaper to eat out than Cabanas and a very pretty town, Cabanas is nice but limited eating places and bars, the Europer we found was the best for the fresh fish and had a terrece out the back, in Tavira the resturants were all very good. The village is a good 20 min walk but if you head for the phone mast (that looks like a pine tree) there is the jolly sailor for a beer stop half way there. Caroline the owner was very helpfol before we went . we would recommend this apartment but suggest you hire a car to see the surrounding area and to get to the beaches. Although we went at the very start of the season we enjoyed the apartment and village very much our party of five aged from 7 to 55 all enjoyed the relaxed lifestyle so much that we bough our own apartment in Tavira, so go ahead and book if you want good food relaxed surrondings and nice people with an excelent flat waiting for you at the end of the day,and if you want Tavira look out for ours.

The holiday we had in the Penthouse apartment was really relaxing and enjoyable. The interior deco was excellent with all the facilities you have at home. The kitchen is well equipped and if you don't fancy cooking inside then there is a bbq which you can use on the roof terrace. The area around is quite stunning with Tavira town a short drive away. Tavira town is part old and part new and the old town is especially quaint with lots of fab places to eat or if you just want to sit and watch the world go by then there are an abundance of cafes to have one of the gorgeous coffees. There are plenty of supermarkets around for those wishing to self cater and the fish market in Tavira is the place to go for fresh fish and vegetables especially if you have a penchant for fresh sardines.With Spain just a thirty minute drive a holiday in Cabanas is well worth a visit.

We stayed here June 2008.Great apartment in a residential area..but only a 15 min walk to the sea.Loved it.
We enjoyed the 5 a side football pitch over the road and the pool was great.Cabanas not a heaving tourist resort(apart from July/Aug when gets busy) but a great part od the eastern Algarve.For those without a car the train station 200 yds away is great for days out
