Can Canet is a traditional Catalan Masia', situated within its own 25 hectares, with far reaching views across magnificent wooded countryside and on to the coast. Private and secluded but only 5km from the local town of Cassa de la Selva, which provides all amenities. The house is decorated in the local style, with spacious accommodation. The rooms have high ceilings and are cool in summer, but cosy in the winter with central heating and log fires. There is 800 sq.m of living space, with large kitchen, 2 sitting rooms, dining room, 8 spacious bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. There is a covered terrace and a lot of outside space for al fresco dining and relaxing. The large infinity pool has fabulous views and a separate shower, WC, kitchen area and barbecue. The garden terraces face due south with fruit trees and pond. There is a 2 bedroom caretaker's annex which is only available to rent to the same group staying in the main house. Can Canet is in the Gavarres National Park, well known for its wonderful cycling and walking. Girona, 15 kms inland, is a beautiful medieval city on the banks of the Rio Ter, with a spectacular cathedral, and very good shops. Sant Feliu de Guixols is a pretty coastal resort 20kms away with marina and two lovely sheltered bays with gently sloping beaches, from where you can hire pedalos, sailing dinghies or motor boats. The Dali Museum at Figueras is approx. 40 kms away, and there are many very well preserved medieval villages within half an hour's drive. There are many restaurants to choose from within a 10-15 minutes drive from the house. Scuba diving schools proliferate on the coast, and the renowned Islas Medas diving area are only 35 minutes drive away. There are many golf courses the nearest 15kms away. Barcelona is 1 hour by train or car and the beautiful foothills of the Pyrenees and the Volcanic Park known as the Garrotxa, with the lovely lakeside town of Banyoles all nearby.

  • We also offer bed and breakfast during low and mid season, and short term breaks, so it is always worth emailing us to see what special offers we have. During low and mid season Bed and Breakfast is available at a rate of €80 per room. Guests are welcome to stay around the house during the day and avail themselves of the swimming pool and gardens. Evening meals can also be prepared by prior arrangement.
    For weekly renters we charge a cash security deposit of €300 which is returned at the end of the rental period, to cover any costs of cleaning and breakages which may occour.
    A Deposit of 10% is payable at the time of booking, with the balance to be paid one month before arrival date. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE RENTAL FIGURES ARE INTENDED AS A ROUGH GUIDE ALWAYS ENQUIRE FOR CONFIRMATION

  • Each bathroom has its own individual style, one of the bathrooms has a double ended claw footed bath, and one has a Jacuzzi bath. All are tiled throughout and one has the most wonderful view from the loo!

  • The number of single and double beds in each room can be changed to a certain extent according to guests requirements, and there is a separate annex available to hire which can sleep a further 5 people. THIS IS ONLY EVER HIRED TO THE SAME GROUP HIRING THE MAIN HOUSE. There is a 20 metre long balcony affording specatcular views, running the length of the house and adjoining three of the double bedrooms. All the bedrooms are on the first floor, and one has direct access onto a small terrace which leads to the swimming pool. The rooms are decorated in local style with mainly antique furniture.

Notes: The rooms are light and airy and have superb views. Central heating is throughout the house with three open fireplaces. The rooms are furnished for the most part with Catalan antiques, apart from the comfortable sofas! There is a large balcony on the east side of the house and a lovely traditional Catalan arched porch which is ideal for dining whilst enjoying the fabulous views down the valley towards the sea through the archways,or swim in the floodlight pool whilst waiting for the food to cook on the barbecue! The garden terraces are perfect for relaxing, listening to the pond fountain and picking lemons off the tree The separate annexe is available to hire to anyone hiring the main house if they wish to add more accommodation. It is only available to hire to a party which is already hiring the main house. The annexe consists of two bedrooms, one with bunk beds, and a bathroom, small kitchen area and sitting room and is linked to the main house by a short passageway above the garage

Outside the house: The swimming pool is private, and is 12m x 4m approx. It is 2.3m deep at the deep end so fine for diving; there is a wide step at the shallow end which is fun for supervised children. It can be floodlit in the evenings and the large barbecue and shower area is next to the pool and the Jacuzzi. There is a wide lawned area around the pool, and a paved shady area furnished with Loungers. The complex has a large shower, WC, sink and barbecue fireplace. The porch has a very large table which can seat 16 or more elbows permitting! Chairs are provided. There is also a large swing hammock on the lower garden terraces. The swimming pool complex is private, and is above the house and as the house is built into the hillside there are 4 terraces, we have had many extremely happy children staying but small children have to be supervised. The countryside around the house is perfect for walking, or mountain biking, it is a haven for wildlife with birds of prey, deer and wild boar.

Inside the house: All the rooms are very spacious and light with lovely views. the kitchen has a separate area with fireplace and sofas, and the dining room has wide double doors which open on to one of the terraces. Most guests love to sit in the Catalan porche in the shade with the lights of La Bisbal twinkling in the distances. There is no light pollution as we are in the middle of a national park, and it is completely peaceful. No neighbours and it is a popular party house for that reason!! We have let the house out for wedding receptions and special birthday parties, and have constructed dance floors too!!
