Further details for this holiday house rental in County Clare, Ireland

Ballina: This is one of two listed heritage towns in north Tipperary. Ballina is built on the Tipperary side of the river Shannon, which divides it from the twin town of Killaloe. Recent developments offering improved boating facilities have further enhanced the lake activity in this area. The newly built tourist office across the bridge also houses a heritage centre that traces the various lake and river activities associated with the area since earliest times. The newly developed Brian Ború Centre is also located here. The linked towns of Killaloe & Ballina offer history, an exceptionally beautiful riverside setting and access to Ireland’s greatest waterway. Joined by a 13-arched stone bridge, the twin towns lie on either side of the River Shannon, where it narrows after passing through Lough Derg. Killaloe, on the left bank, in County Clare is a network of charming narrow streets, flanked by old shops & houses, that climb up the steep hillside & look down over the 13th century cathedral.

Killaloe: The Killaloe Tourist Office located at the Brian Boru Heritage Centre. Watersports are the key to the popularity of Killaloe. Boats of all kinds from rowing boats to Shannon cabin cruisers are available for hire and water-skiing has long been popular. Short (circa one-hour) tours of the River Shannon and Lough Derg are available from the Ballina side aboard the 50-seater passenger boat Spirit of Killaloe Spirit of Killaloe & boats of all kinds may be hired. In September, Killaloe is the venue for the European Pike Angling Championships. Great Entertainment Early in July, the Brian Boru Festival brings traditional music and a variety of entertainment, inside and outside, to the towns for a week. Towards the end of July the Killaloe International Music Festival centred on the cathedral, concentrates on the classics and is growing in reputation around the world. Pubs and Restaurants There are many fine restaurants including Molly’s, Goosers, The Cherrytree & Flanagans Steakhouse.

Excellent house in great location

CMCH Boston
Review Submitted: September 29, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We stayed at this house for a week in September. Had a wonderful time even though our weather did not let us enjoy the deck and garden as much as we would have liked. The sun came out on our last day and it was fabulous to be able to grill and sit on the deck and watch the boats go by on the Shannon. The house has been decorated very nicely and has everything you could possibly need, including books and DVDs for those rainy afternoons!! Owner was very responsive and helpful when we were making our booking. The walk into Balina and Killaloe is really just a stroll and the hotel is right by the house which is handy for a coffee or pub grub. We also ate in The Cherry Tree which is just down the road and excellent. Very much hope we can return on our next trip to this part of the country. For once we found a property which exceeded expectations.
Owner's Response: Thanks Clodagh, I appreciate the great review. Glad you enjoyed the house and your stay. This part of Ireland is relatively undiscovered and is one of the most stunning locations there is. You are welcome back anytime.

Prefect location and house

Review Submitted: July 30, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Spent a week mid June - weather was good- rained some each day but not enough to change our plans. Ballina and Killaloe were very nice and general location of the house was perfect for day trips. Went with 3 adult children and spouses - the house was set up to make us all comfortable. Ate several meals overlooking the river on the deck and eagerly awaited the arrival of the ducks each day for a visit. Able to walk to both towns so wide variety of restaurants and shops.. if you're there for the farmers market on Sunday - don't miss !!

Thanks again for a wonderful family vacation !!!
Owner's Response: Thanks for the review, glad you enjoyed it!

Very comfortable

Review Submitted: June 25, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
This property is "as advertised" on the web site, is well kept-up and a very pleasant place to spend time in. It is in the town of Ballina, within walking distance of a number of restaurants in Ballina and Killaloe, and with a great view of the lake. One of the coziest small towns in the west of Ireland. There is a grocery in Killaloe, but you'll generally want a car to get around. Only difficult part was that instructions for control of heating and appliances were complex and took a bit of work to figure-out.
Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your visit, i will endeavor to simplify the instructions for the heating and appliances, thanks for your positive review.

Great place for a relaxing holiday

Mary T Shrewsbury, Shropshire, England
Review Submitted: May 28, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
We rented this house for one week during April and were fortunate to get great weather. This house has a beautiful location overlooking the river Shannon. The gardens are beautiful and private and very safe for children. Our kids enjoyed the playhouse and swings in the garden. The house has clearly been designed to make the most of its vista over the water. All the main rooms, Kitchen, living, balcony and 3 of the bedrooms all look over the river. The inside of the house is modern and well laid out and has all the homely touches that we expected. I can say that we were more than happy with what we found on arrival. The website did portray an accurate picture of what we had expected. The local area is very peaceful, we found several lovely restaurants, Mollys, Flanagans, Crottys and the River run. We went on a local tour boat the Sprirt of Killaloe which goes up the river and into the lake. All in all we had a great holiday and I can recommend this home to anyone who is looking for a relaxing vacation in a beautifuly scenic location.
Owner's Response: Thanks for the favourable review Mary, we really do appreciate it. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and that the weather behaved for you. Ballina & Killaloe are unique and relativity undiscovered jewels, so near to urban Ireland yet so far. Hope to see you again next year. David & Roisin
