A five to ten minute walk takes you to the ski lift, accessing the huge, varied ski area of Flegere and Brevent - Chamonix's sunniest slopes, linked directly to the town. There are plenty of restaurants, some shops and several bars (including a great apres bar with relaxed live music) within about five minutes walk in the village, ranging from cheerful Italian pizzeria to superb French haute cuisine. It's just 2km from the cosmopolitan centre of Chamonix by car, free ski bus, regular train or a pleasant level stroll along the woodland paths or a quiet road . In summer, some of the most spectacular mountain hikes in Europe can be started at the door, along with cycle trails for all abilities. The Chamonix golf course is just a short walk away. South facing and sunny, the chalet itself is in a tranquil spot, set back from a small private road. From chalet, garden, balcony or hot tub, the views of the peaks - including Mont Blanc - are stunning in every direction

Inside the Chalet: The double height, open beamed living room has big squashy sofas, a wide screen TV with DVD and PS2, WiFi, stereo with iPod dock, and a bar. Generously sized beds, with quality linen and towels. Luxurious walk-in wet room with underfloor heating downstairs, bath, shower & double basins upstairs, and one en suite bedroom in the cosy mazot (an utterly charming, fully en-suite mini-chalet).

Ski: No need to get the bus - it's just a short walk to the lift accessing Flegere and Brevent, the sunniest areas of Chamonix. You can also ride down to Chamonix town centre from here. The free ski bus accessing the other ski areas stops at the end of the drive. There's a fantastic Apres bar on the way back from the lift station.

Golf: Chamonix Golf course, an eighteen hole course with stunning views, is just a short walk from the chalet.

The second time we have stayed at Chalet la Foret. It has a wonderful homely feel, cozy and warm - whilst spacious, the bedrooms are very comfortable and the kitchen's superbly equipped. There's a big bath in the bathroom and a superb wetroom.

Situated in a wooded area of Les Praz village - the view across the garden and over the woods to the mountains is spectacular [especially from the hot tub].

It's a 5 minute stroll to the Flegere cable car and because Lez Praz is -geographically- halfway between Brevent and Grand Montet, they are a short car or bus ride away... The skiing in Chamonix is truely amazing.

A dream place in a dream location

We have found our perfect alpine chalet, with all the home comforts and necessities a family could need. Chalet la Foret is both incredibly spacious & yet very cosy. The views from the house & garden, both day & night are without a doubt the most spectacular we've seen. We will definitely be returning here with & without the kids again & again!

A magical place

Our stay at at Chalet la foret was magical. We were greeted by the first fall of the season and made the most of it by having a nightime hot tub, marveling at the pine forest and the silence as the snow fell. The Chalet was comfy and cosi and had everything we needed.

We woke up to sparkling veiws of snow topped mountains and laden pine trees. The kids had a great time playing in the extensive and enclosed garden. Nightimes were spent eating local food - the raclets were amazing - and reading by the fire. The scenery is breathtaking, loads of activitys for kids, the town is lovely - we especially enjoyed the saturday morning market.

Cant wait to come back !
