Situated in the heart of the fishing village Cabanas de Tavira, this intriguing 4storey house offers an excellent standard of accommodation and is a perfect for a family or 2 couples seeking reasonably priced quality accommodation. The main entrance leads directly into the open plan lounge, with a well equipped dining and kichen area & seating for up to 6 people. (The sofa converts into an additional sleeping area if required). WC and cloakroom on ground floor. Stairs to the first floor lead to a twin bedroom with bathroom and WC. The second bedroom is located on the 2nd floor, with double bed and shower/WC. The balcony area adjoining this room has sufficient space for relaxing or peaceful al fresco dining. From here, an external spiral staircase leads to a 4th floor terrace suitable for sun bathing and offers the most spectaular views of the coastline and surrounding areas. Recently refurbished, the decor is modern, with special touches such as integral radio in each bedroom

Cabanas is a small and pretty fishing village and is not overcrowded with tourists.It remains largely unspoilt and has a friendly, family atmosphere. The whole village can be leisurely strolled, from end to end, in around 30 minutes and has an excellent choice of restaurants, bars and cafes catering for all tastes - most of which are along the sea front capturing the day time sunshine. For smaller budgets and a taste of the real Algarve, there are also a number of traditional bars and Tascas serving typical Portuguese meals in the back streets at very reasonable prices! The village has 2 good supermarkets with a range of fresh produce and there is also a daily market, butchers and bakers. There are relatively few gifts shops, but in the height of summer, there are stalls selling handcrafted goods. Cabanas is not a destination for those seeking activity and night life - the atmosphere is generally relaxed and is perfect for socialising, relaxing and dining. Good bus/rail links.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Rates are for up to 5 persons. Travel cots are available at 20 Euros per week and 12.50 Euros for subsequent weeks . A 20% deposit is required to secure the reservation with the balance payable 8 weeks prior to arrival. All charges include cleaning before arrival, cleaning and change of linen once per week and cleaning after departure. All linen and towels are provided. • Payment is preferred in the specified currency. We may have to charge you for any bank fees incurred should the payment be made in a different currency. A Refundable House Deposit of £150 or 150€ is required. • Long term winter rentals are available at reasonable rates. Winter months may attract a small additional heating charge of approx 25€ per week. Please enquire for further details.
  • Changeover days are flexible. Normal check in time is 4pm and checkout 10am. These times will only be applied if absolutely necessary and we will accommodate arrival and departure as fully as possible. Villa care company available throughout stay for assistance if required. Linen change and cleaning weekly.

THE BEAUTIFULTOWN OF TAVIRA : When staying in this accommodation a visit to the beautiful town of Tavira is essential! You will not fail to be enthralled by its unspoilt charm, character and tranquility. As you wander along the cobbled streets, you'll see an abundance of history dating as far back as 2000BC. A Roman bridge links the 2 parts of the town across the River Gilao, its sides decorated with traditional old bars and restaurants where you can relax and enjoy a peaceful drink or meal. Horse drawn carriages and a small train operate around the town and are perfect for sightseeing and enjoying the peaceful ambience. The many churches (37 in total!), the town castle and the typical fisherman's harbour leading to the River Formosa Natural Park are all places to visit, along with the wonderful daily market selling fresh home grown produce. Tavira Island and its wonderful beach is accessible by ferry boat from the town and offers excellent facilities with a wonderful holiday atmosphere.

BEACH AND OTHER THINGS TO SEE AND DO: As a natural island separated from the mainland by the River Formosa,the Beach is reached by catching a small water taxi from the harbour. facilities ARE offered including snack bars, sun beds for hire and a wonderful holiday atmosphere amongst golden sands and the Atlantic Ocean. By travelling a little further afield there are a good range of things to do for everyone. For nature lovers, forest walks, cruises along the River Guadiana or nature trails along the Ria Formosa Reserve where bird watching is in abundance! Travelling West there are some excellent shopping centres in Faro and Ghia as well as the famous Water Parks and Zoo Marine all easily reached by car or by day trip coach. The Spanish border town of Ayamonte is approx 25 kms by car, where the delights of another country can be sampled along with wine, Tapas and shopping. Ayamonte can also be reached by ferry from Vila Real. Seville is about 170km away, and budding historians may enjoy Castro Marim Castle.

GOLF INFORMATION: This is perfect accommodation for golfers wishing to sample the excellent courses situated in the Eastern Algarve. Within a 20km radius there are 7 courses to choose from. Benamor and the 2 Quintas (Ria and Cima) are the most popular and can be reached within several minutes. The prestigious new course of Monte Rei designed by Jack Nicklaus now has its first 18 holes open and is continuing in its development to the second phase offering the height of golfing luxury - although a costly experience, this is a real treat for golfing fanatics wishing to experience a little high life! Travelling only 10kms further on towards Spain, the challenging course of Castro Marim, along with its famous country club comes highly recommended and just across the border are the Costa Esuri and Quinta do Vale courses now growing in popularity. We can organise a full golfing package with 1 price per head with play at a selection of these courses, car hire and rental of this property.(Flights not included)

The property was an excellent distance from the beach with a very convenient boat ride between it and the mainland. The beach itself was perfect although the property's location meant that several other beaches and villages could be reached with relative ease. It was lovely to dine on the balcony in the sun for every meal and the villa was very well equipped, meaning that we had no difficulties in catering for ourselves as well as dining out. There was excellent customer service meaning that it was very easy to sort out any problems or queries we had during the week. There was an array of good restaurants to dine at and a supermarket a short distance away from the property. Just down the road was the local pub which was great for popping down to in the evenings whilst not being too noisy to live next to. We had a brilliant week and I can't think of any way in which it could have been improved. I recommend a trip to the town of Tavira and a visit to Pedro's - a local restaurant. This property is perfect for travellers without a car and groups of friends who want to avoid the tourists.
