Pepieux holiday house

This house was an absolute delight, you can tell at once that for much of the year it is someone's treasured home, so much more than just a holiday let. The charming couple who own it had moved literally, next door, and were on hand to answer any and all questions about the property and the region. The village was charming with a fabulous Gothic church and the ancient Dolmen as well as all the basic amenities. The garden, although slightly separated from the house, lies beside the river and the river walk so locals often stroll by and offer encouragement when you use the Petanque pitch or even the BBQ, but it's certainly private enough to relax and enjoy the weather. There's no need for a pool though with the huge Jouarres lake a short bike ride away where there is a marvellous restaurant offering musical entertainment most weekends. The nearest town is Olonzac which boasts an amazing weekly market and a range of bars and cafes which also offer music in the summer evenings. The best memories of this property were just how much a 'home from home' it really was, the house is filled with light, there is everything you could possibly ask for in the kitchen and even the reading material lives up to the claim. Best of all you can sit out on the square in the evening with a glass or two of wine from the local Cave (just over the road behind the church) and watch the locals gather to pass the time as the song birds are replaced by tiny Pipistrel bats. Alternatively enjoy an evening in the garden watching the stars. We'll certainly be going back.
