Quiet rural cottage close to Dinan and the coast

This former farm cottage is in a quiet hamlet 1.5km from the nearest village. The cottage has an attached stone barn forming an 'L' round 2 sides of a very sunny courtyard - ideal for relaxing. The interior is open-plan, light, spacious and well equipped, retaining the original beams and a woodburning stove. There is table-tennis and two bikes in the barn and the sitting room has a good supply of books, games and maps, CD and radio. Henanbihen has a boulangerie and 'Spa' shop and Matignon, 10 minutes away has a lively weekly market and an ample choice of shops, restaurants and cafes. The cottage has views over fields and orchards and the lanes are good for walking or cycling with a moated castle to visit in the nearby Forest of Hunaudaye. The coast is easily reached and very pretty, with sandy beaches, rocky coves or lively seaside towns and harbours. A large number of sports and activities are well catered for and offer good value, including some first class golf courses.

The area around Henanbihen is very pretty and full of variety. There are many historical sites to visit; the medieval towns of Dinan and Moncontour, chateaux, castles (Fort la Latte) and churches. The coast has long sandy beaches for children (Erquy) as well as good surfing beaches (Frehel). For walkers there is a long distance footpath around the coast and nature reserves to visit (Cap Frehel) with magnificent views and an abundance of wild flowers. Further inland the landscape is more rugged with forests, lakes and rivers to explore. The footpaths and cycle ways are numerous and well marked. The many small towns are lively places to eat or shop, with plenty choice of restaurants and cafes. Seafood or crepes are the local speciality. You can browse round the local markets or try St Malo and Dinan for 'chic' shopping. There are good golf courses at Sable d'Or and St Cast and a wide choice of sports and activities in the surrounding area, suitable for all ages.
