The Mulino di Rimaggio is an old 18 century water mill transformed in a self-catering holiday rental with a shared swimming pool fed by the fresh water of a natural stream & an extensive perfumed garden. It nestles on the Valdarno slopes of the Chianti hills in the triangle of Florence, Siena, Arezzo. The names of the three apartments correspond to their original use & setting: Hayloft, Millstones, Stream. Each apartment is totally independent and well acoustically isolated and has its own separated outdoor space. Communal laundry room and ample parking facilities. A rural landscape of olive groves, vineyards & wild woods surrounds the property. Ideal for nature lovers, birdwatchers, hikers & many other relaxing activities. Toads, frogs, lizards & butterflies keep the children safely busy for hours. The nearest towns of Cavriglia and Montevarchi have grocery stores, shops, markets. One hour driving from the most famous art cities of Tuscany and Umbria.

2 bedrooms, sleep 4/5 persons. The name evoke the old use of this part of the Mulino di Rimaggio where the hay and the fodder were stored for the cattle. Two storey apartment with easy staircase. The ground floor has access to the swimming pool and the stream side. There is a spacious and bright kitchen/dining area, an ample living room with fireplaces TV set, satellite, stereo; a twin bedded room overlooking the stream and a bathroom with shower cabin. The upper floor has an intimate double bedded room with the original brickworks of the hayloft that overlooks the swimming pool and the hill with olive groves, vineyards and the village of Montegonzi in the distance. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, gas stove, and electric oven, cooking tools, bread toaster, coffee machine and mokka, glasses, dishes and cutlery for 6 people. Bed linen and towels are provided. Outdoor dining area with barbecue.

The Mulino di Rimaggio is located in an area of great historical and naturalistic interest. The Valdarno valley is one of the first human settlement of Tuscany and in Montevarchi you can visit the Paleontology Museum, the third most important regarding the Pliocene in the world. In the Valdarno area there is some of the most interesting Romanesque country parishes dated back to the XI - XII century. The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in San Giovanni Valdarno houses paintings by Masaccio, Beato Angelico and Giovanni di San Giovanni. At Cavriglia, 3 km far the Roseto Fineschi offers one of the finest botanical collections of 7000 varieties of roses in Europe. The lovely little medieval village of Montegonzi overlooking the Mill can be the destination of a morning walk for a good cappuccino. 8 km driving you are in the heart of the Chianti with its famous wineries and culinary tradition. Who likes art and history can reach Florence, Siena and Arezzo in less than one hour driving.

The Mulino is a lovely way to experience the Tuscany region.
The house itself is full of character and restored to a wonderful condition. The kids swam in the pool every day - a real higlight for them.
It is an excellent base for travelling to the tourist highlights (Florence, San Gimignano, Arezzo and Siena). Location is wonderful & quiet - in the middle of olive groves and vineyards.
Francesca and Roberto are lovely people and their warm welcome made a nice start to the holiday.
We hold wonderful memories of the Mulino - it is the perfect way to taste life in Tuscany
Owner's Response: Really the location is one of the highlights of our property with the respect of the nature that surrounds the property.
Out of the crowd of the most famous turistic spots of the Chianti region, reachable in less than 30 minutes, offers quiet, relax, but also space for children to play and have fun in the large pool or in the gardens area.

Our August 2008 Holiday

We rented the beautiful Millstone villa in August 2008. The villa was very clean and well equipped. The Mill itself has been finished to a high standard that provides privacy between each of the three villas.

The villa is located in a rural area, with Montevarchi being the closest large town complete with a large supermarket and train station.

We enjoyed our time around the pool and had fantastic weather.

The owners Francesca and Roberto were very friendly and helpful. On our arrival, we arrived late in the evening, and both Francesca and Roberto stayed late to welcome us and made sure we settled in.

The villa is well located, which allowed us to visit a number of cities including Florence, Sienna, and Arrezzo.

We highly recommend a stay at the Mill.
Owner's Response: The location of the Mill is really a "must". You can reach Florence by easy trains from Montevarchi and forget the stress of driving and parking for the all day. The other cities of interest are all very close, 30- 40 minutes driving. This allows the guests to spend enough time sightseeing and be back in the afternoon to enjoy the country cooler air by our infinity pool.

Our three families from Ireland rented the villa in July 2008. The villas were all of a very high standard and sympathetically decorated in keeping with the old mill. The surrounding area is very rural and beautiful but there is a large town nearby where all groceries can be purchased easily. The pool was really large and maintained very well throughout our stay. Francesca, Roberto and Gloria were so welcoming and helpful including a tour of Florence within the stay and a cooking day where our children learned how to make pizzas using the real pizza oven and home made lasange and ice cream. The villa is very near Florence, Sienna, Arrezzo, Cortona and other wonderful historical centres. It would come highly recommended.
Owner's Response: Many thanks for your appreciation of our villa, this is the best reward for years of hard work for the restauration of this historical building.
It was fun to cook and tour togheter for us too and the photos will be a very good memory of you all. We hope to host you again for future Tuscan holidays !
