This beautifully restored 18th century townhouse is in the lovely village of Uzès, capital of the province of the Gard in southern France. The house is located immediately outside the original medieval town walls and is a two minute walk away from the 12th century market place the Place aux Herbes, which hosts a Provencale market every Saturday. The house was constructed in the 18th century as a gentle men's town house on much older foundations. It was restored by Dr. Patrick Woodcock in the early 80s and has featured in a number of books and documentaries about the region. The house is comfortably furnished with a mixture of contemporary English and 18-19th century French furniture. The roof terrace at the top of the house provides lovely views of the town center and surroundings. There is a lovely shaded walled garden at the back of the house. Both the roof terrace and the garden have large dining tables. Car parking a few minutes walk from the house.

Notes to the rental rates

• All prices are per week. Prices are inclusive of water, electricity and linen. For stays of two weeks or longer, a cleaning fee of euro 50 is payable at the end of your stay. Preferred change over dates and times are Friday to Friday arriving at 4 pm departing at 11 am. Alternative change over dates can be arranged subject to availability. Longer term rentals are preferred for which rates are negotiable.
  A deposit of 25% of the total hire cost is required to secure a booking, with full payment at least three weeks before the hire period commences. A security deposit of one week's rental in the form of a cheque is also payable on arrival, returnable at the end of the rental period. Cheques can be denominated in euros, dollars or pounds sterling. Bank transfers can also be arranged in euros to a French bank account. Details can be provided on request.
  Cleaning and cooking services during your stay can be arranged at an additional charge.

How To Get There

Closest to Uzes are the airports of Nîmes and Montpellier. Direct services from the UK are provided by Ryanair operating out of London Stansted, or British Airways from London Gatwick. Air France provides services from Paris. Car hire services are available from both airports. It takes about 20 minutes to drive from Nîmes and just over one hour from Montpellier. Easyjet flies to Marseile and Toulouse. KLM also operates flights from Amsterdam to Marseille. Avignon is also served by TGV from both Paris and Marseille. Car hire companies operate in Avignon at walking distance from Avignon Centre railway station. Note that the new TGV station is substantially outside the town. Tenants can be met by special arrangement at their own expense. Limited car hire facilities are available in Uzès. It is advisable to book well in advance. Uzès is approximately 30 minutes by car from Avignon.
