Our charming house “Il Tufolino” part of the medieval wall is in the heard of the romantic Tuscan village of Roccatederighi. The house sits on a lovely small square which invites to sit in the sun and watch the walking-by Italians, greeting you with a “come stai?” The house has recently been renovated tastefully to high standards w/floor- and wall heating, thus comfortable even in winter. Upon entering from the square the hall brings you to the open kitchen, the spacious light living/dining room with fire place and French window to the balcony. From there you have a breathtaking view towards the Mediterranean Sea and the Maremma plain. Our house has three bedrooms all with double beds and two bathrooms. There is another possibility of access through a little courtyard to the second floor. The house can be rented throughout the year because it has a modern central gas heating, not to forget the open fireplace for cosy quiet autumn evenings. More pics + floorplans under chiusinodotinfo.

Roccatederighi is a charming small medieval village nestling on top of a hill. From here you have fantastic panoramic views towards the Maremma plain and the sea. The village is very authentic and intact with its narrow lanes, archways and little open places inviting to relax. In the historic centre the alleys are to narrow for cars to drive; this guarantees you absolute tranquillity. There are 4 restaurants, all of them specialize in fine Tuscan food, 2 bars where you can enjoy a nice cappuccino and the enoteca offers a broad variety of fine wines produced locally as well as nationwide. In Roccatederighi you can get all you need: a small supermarket, butchers, bakeries, small food shops. A pharmacy, a post office, a bank. A bike shop rents out bikes and organises guided tours. The village is lively but on the same hand a peaceful and idyllic spot inviting to rest or as a starting point for excursions to the beaches/islands and explorations of the high Italian/Etruscan cultures.

It is with pleasure that I can say that this property, town, landlord will give you a holiday you wont forget. The apartment itself is so very beautiful and comfortable that you feel immediately as if you've always belonged. This village is a feast for the eyes architecturally, and for the soul emotionally. As Americans, we don't have clusters of clans living amongst each other for generations; that tight sense of true community is rare now. In Roccatederighi, community thrives! It is a very heartening to observe parents and grandparents joyously spoiling their children and chatting away on benches, from windows, parks - anywhere. This particular region has so much beauty to observe and many historic places to visit. Your landlord will be a font of information and organization for you in this regard. He may even throw in a day of "Italian Cooking 101" Don't miss this highlight - and be prepared to go cycling for several days afterwards!

My husband, son (12 years) and I stayed at Il Tufolino in the autumn of 2008.
The house was marvelous. Very comfortable, very clean and with all mod cons..It is a charming house in a very pretty village.
The area is very quiet and very beautiful. You can go by bus to Siena and down to the coast. There is lots to see or you can just enjoy being very calm and relaxed.

Letzten Sommer verbrachten wir (mein Mann, ich und unsere 3 Kinder, 14, 10, und 6 Jahre) eine unvergessliche Zeit in "Il Tufolino". Schon der Empfang war ein Erlebnis, mit der Ape wurde unser Gepäck in die verwinkelte Altstadt direkt vor das Haus gefahren. Das von aussen unscheinbare Haus hat uns alle sofort begeistert, es ist hell und die Zimmer sind schön groß, es ist sehr individuell und detailverliebt eingerichtet, man merkt gleich dass der Besitzer Architekt ist. Auf der Terasse haben wir unser Frühstück mit dem tollen Blick jeden Morgen wirklich genossen und abends konnten mein Mann und ich bei einem Glas Rotwein die Lichter der umliegenden Dörfer funkeln sehen. Das Dorf Roccatederighi hat uns ausserdem begeistert, vor allem haben wir im Ristorante "da Nada" und im "Il Corso" sehr gut gegessen, in einer enoteca gibt es ausgezeichnete Weine aus der Region zu probieren und zu kaufen.
Es gäbe viel zu unternehmen, aber relaxen auf dem kleinen Platz vor dem Haus, hat uns eben auch gefallen, die Zeit war zu kurz, wir werden bestimmt wieder ins "Il Tufolino" zurück kommen.
