Distances

Port Aventura, Universal Theme Park, is an hour drive. Benicassim, Aqua World, is a 40 minutes drive. The old city Peniscola stands on top of an impressive rocky crag, which rises 64 metres above the blue sea. The setting in the Mediterranean makes these almost impregnable walls one of the most spectacular fortresses in Spain. Visit Peniscola old town along the coast with walls and fortifications surrounding the white washed houses and Peniscola Castle. Peniscola has 7 kilometres of beautiful beaches with a lively atmosphere and many night spots. 30 minutes drive. Vinaros is the local fishing port town, bringing in fresh fish every day with King Prawns a local speciality. The ‘Mercato’ is where you can purchase fresh fish, fruit and vegetables and is colourful with a wonderful atmosphere. 40 minutes drive. Valencia, an hour drive. There is a brand new arts and sciences centre, including the largest aquarium park in Europe. Plenty of beautiful historical streets and buildings.

Activities

Golf: Alcossebre is just 40 minutes away from Castellons Mediterraneo golf course to the South and Panoramica Golf and Country Club at Vinaros to the North. Kids: Galactic Parc, Alcossebre. There is an indoor area and an outoor area for the kids to enjoy where they can play, jump and draw. Go Karting: There are tracks at Benicassim and Peniscola. Activities at Alcossebre include fishing, diving, horse riding, squash, snorkelling, and mini golf. Beaches are equipped with football pitches, volleyball nets, play areas, pedlos, windsurfing, scuba diving, jet-ski and sailing all available in season. Inland are the mountains of the Sierra Irta, a nature reserve, which also provides many beautiful, scenic walks. One historic sight particularly worth a visit is the Xivert Castle high on a rocky outcrop near Alcossebre overlooking the sea. The castle is a mix of Arab and Christian remains. Approximately 90 minutes drive to Spanish Ski Resort at Valdinares.

The Area

The twin resort of Alcossebre/Las Fuentes boasts several fine beaches - one to suit everyone. The Las Fuentes Beach is so named because of the many natural fresh water springs which arise on the beach, making for a unique salt and freshwater experience. The man-made marina in Las Fuentes is home to sailing and power crafts of all sizes. The coast line boast a surface area of 6.000 square meters. You could simply take a stroll along one of five excellent blue-flag beaches or get energetic and play volleyball, tennis or bowls. For those who like to get wet whilst on holiday, in season, there are plenty of attractive little paddleboats and windsurfers for hire and for the more adventurous, there are jet skis and scuba diving. Attractive and colourful, Alcossebre can be conceited of feing one of the most hospitable places in The Orange Blossom Coast. For those seeking the good things in life - great restaurants, wonderful scenery, superb and clean beaches, this is the place to be.
