Le Coteau Gites iare beautiful holiday homes in the foothills of the Pyrenees. The original building is over two hundred years old and has been sympathetically renovated in typical French style. The gites are situated in a quiet village surrounded by stunning scenery. For those who desire peace and tranquility this is the place for you. Le Coteau Gites are ideally situated for exploring the Pyrenees. There is something to see all year round if only the changing colours of the seasons! The perfect place for family holidays. Many places of interest, walk, cycle, view wildlife,ski or just relax and unwind. Only 35mins from Spain and the Tour De France passes close by in July. Gite 1 accommodates 4/6 people and has the advantage of a romantic south facing balcony. This Gite is an upper floor holiday rental in traditional south west France style. It has two good size bedrooms; the main bedroom has a double bed and plenty of storage space. It has the additional charm of a romantic south facing balcony. The second bedroom has single bunk beds and can provide an extra single bed if required. The lounge area has a sofa bed, TV, stereo and video player. It has many wonderful features such as a heavily beamed vaulted ceiling and mock minstrel’s gallery. The kitchen area is fitted with hob, oven, microwave, fridge and breakfast bar and two chairs. There is also a table and four chairs. The bathroom contains a shower, toilet and small washbasin. The rear door leads outside to stairs which take you down to an ideal outdoor eating area and barbeque. Steps up to main large garden area and private pool. Please note that due to the access to the Gite having steep stairs, we do not recommend this apartment is suitable for children under five years old.

There are many beautiful places to visit and everywhere you go the Pyrenees provide a stunning backdrop to the scenery.The nearby town of Montrejeau holds a colourful market on Monday mornings selling a vast selection of fresh produce and handycrafts.There is also a large lake of sparkling turquoise where many activities can be found ,fishing,boating,picnics,walking,swimming or just relaxing.Tarbes is the nearest large town and thanks to the wonderful auto-routes is within an hours drive.Spain is less than an hours drive away and if you choose to take less direct routes you will encounter stunning scenery and many pretty places to see.The Pyrenees themselves provide many forms of activities,walking,hikiing,skiing,cycling,nature watching and for the brave at heart,hang gliding or white water rafting.Within 15mins drive you can reach St Bertrand Des Comminges a beautiful cathederal set on the top of the village .'Name of the Rose'was filmed here and it is well worth a visit.

Walking Hiking and Cycling.: The GR10 passes close by and is a favorite route for walkers and hikers. If you are not an experienced walker, there are many nearby places to join an organized walk to suit your abilities. Cycling is a very popular activity in this area as many people want to trace the path of the great Tour De France which passes extremely close to us.

Golf.: There is a nine hole golf course within a ten minute drive at Montrejeau Lake. Set around the lake itself,it is not too taxing but great for a little gentle exercise and breathtaking views.

Skiing.: There are three good ski resorts in the Haute Pyrenees. All just over an hours drive from Le Coteau Gites. They are Luchon, La Mongie and Cap Nestes(cross country).

We greatly enjoyed our two week holiday here in August 2009. We were a group of four, our main delights being cycling, wining, dining, visiting historic sites, gobbling patisseries, chilling out by a pool and in one case paragliding. The village of Generest is an ideal location, a quiet spot with easy access to all of the above.

In the case of cycling, you can have great rides straight out from the village, and only slightly further afield you have the great Tour de France cols such as d'Aspin, Tourmalet and Peyresourde. Then there are super mountain-bike routes including at Luchon the "all-gain, no-pain" type where you get to the top by cable car!

The gites themselves are beautifully appointed and well equipped; lovely garden and swimming pool. Matt and Karen are terrific host/hostess, a lovely fun couple, who made us feel really welcome. They know the area well and gave us plenty of good advice on where to go for stuff. Karen will cook you a great meal too!

I could not recommend this place more highly and am longing for a chance to come here again.

Our stay at Le Coteau Gites was wonderful!The accommodation was better equipped than other rentals we have had in the past.We love to walk and had many memorable days trekking the mountains then returning to relax in the beautiful garden and swim in the pool.Followed by candle lit dinner on the terrace and good French wine before a peaceful nights sleep,ready for more stunning scenery the next day.Bliss!!!Planning to go back soon.

We had a lovely chill-out stay at Les Coteau Gites in September 2008. Very relaxed scene ... rustic accomodation surrounded by rolling lawns and a welcoming swimming pool. Quiet get-away-from-it-all village location ... less than 1 hour drive to Luchon, Saint Lary, National Park and Col du Tourmalet. Helpful hosts who allow you your own space. We would recommend it highly !
