The enchanting harbour village of Kalkan, with its own pebble beach and a number of beach clubs with free entrance, is one of the most beautiful locations along Turkey's stunnning Lycian Coast. With the complete absence of mass tourism, Kalkan remains a charming and unspoilt haven with crystal clear sea, historic architecture, ancient history and warm traditional Turkish hospitality. The many places of interest nearby include the gorge at Saklikent, the architectural site of Xanthos and the sunken city of Kekova. A 15 minute drive from Kalkan is Patara; an 18 km stretch of golden sand where turtles lay their eggs at night. Just behind Kalkan are the mountain villages of Berzigan and Islamlar where wild tortoises are seen during the Spring and the only traffic jam will be the goat herds. Visit Kalkan for the first time and you will quickly fall in love with its old-style charm and gentle rhythm.

He will provide you with a welcome pack, with our compliments, including bottled water, eggs, bread, tea, milk and other basics to help you get going. Each morning he, or one of his team, will clean the pool and sweep the terraces and pool area. Osman lives 2 minutes away from the villa and he will be delighted to do anything he can to help you or to answer any questions you may have. A safe is available in the villa for guests to keep their valuables secure and a 19 litre bottled water dispenser providing chilled water 'on tap' is located in the kitchen. Re-fills are available at the local supermarket at a very low cost.

Third time at Zeytin Agaci

Debs C Oxfordshire UK
Review Submitted: August 6, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
I recently stayed at the beautiful Zeytin Agaci in Kalkan, It was the 3rd time I had stayed here. The villa is set up the hill a short walk away form the main town.

You will find the villa equipped to an excellent standard with everything you could need to make your stay comfortable.

The pool area was the main focus of our stay. A Superb pool with sun beds, tables and the imperative sunshades. The pool and the area around it is cleaned early morning, every day ready for you to enjoy. When the sun moves off the pool area in the very late afternoon, then the roof terrace is perfect for catching the last of the evening sun with a cooling drink before dinner. The views from here are absolutely stunning. Watch the boats come in as the sun sets behind you and you listen to the Iman calling the locals to prayer. Such atmosphere.

Dinner can be taken on the terrace, a lovely area with table, chairs and a sofa. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need. But don’t just stay in to eat, there are many good places to eat in town and a visit to the Moonlight Terrace restaurant is absolutely essential. Os and his family will serve you marvellous traditional Turkish food and welcome you as if you were one of their own, while you enjoy the views.

The villa is immaculate, clean comfortable and safe for the children. I would thoroughly recommend Zeytin Agaci to Couples and families alike. Families taking the usual precautions around the pool with young children. There are some steep hills around Kalkan so it may not suit the elderly or less able. Do hire a car and explore the beautiful coastline and lovely towns in the area. The perfect holiday at a superb villa.

Zeytin Agaci

Review Submitted: October 29, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We have just returned from our 7th visit to this delightful villa. It is spacious, well appointed, clean and Osman, who owns the nearby Moonlight Pansiyon, is on hand to deal with any little queries that arise.
The friendly village centre is a 10 minute stroll with a wide variety of shops and restaurants. The restauruants cater for most tastes and budgets but our favourites this year were Aubergine on the harbour front, Adana for delicious and great value pide (Turkish pizza) and Moonlight Pansiyon's roof top restaurant for delicious, good value, authentic Turkish cuisine and fantastic views over the whole village.
Moving further afield, Patara beach is one of the best beaches I have visited with mile upon mile of fine sand, a great beach cafe, fresh water showers and even changing rooms. A short walk inland from the beach are the remains of the Roman city of Patara with a nearly complete amphitheatre, we were free to wander round the city site and came across a couple of wild tortoises on our travels! The Thursday market was also great fun, my 13 year old son loved bargaining and there is everything from vegetables to turkish delight and spices and jewellery. We hired a boat (Gulit) for the day from the harbour and the captain (Ali on the boat Anil) took us to otherwise inaccessible coves to swim and snorkel, he also produced a delicious lunch and afternoon tea in the price.
I would definitely recommend the villa and we are already planning our 8th visit!

We will Return!!

We stayed at 'Zeytin Agaci' for two weeks in early September this year. It was our first time in Turkey and we have now been totally spoilt.

It was a really special experience. The villa offers everthing we wanted. A touch of Turkey with all the conveniences we expect in todays world of travel. The decor and furnishings are extremely tasteful and considered. The villa is perfectly situated ,away from the centre of the bustling village yet not too far to walk for dinner or shopping. As there were only two of us, we felt at times that we were in a small private hotel!!
We dined out every night, mostly in a different place, and were never disappointed - and there are many restaurants that we never got to!. Whether you are into fish, meat or vegetarian ,you will find lots of choice. Our favourite was undoubtedly the Moonlight Terrace, run by the lovely Ozman who also manages the villa. We did eat there on numerous occasions. The views from the Terrace are stunning and the food is all home cooked by Ozman's mother.
For the rest of our meals and pre dinner drinks we stayed at the villa. There are so many lovely spaces in the villa from which to choose-. Breakfast and lunch on the groundfloor terrace and drinks on the rooftop terrace were our favourites.
We spent a lot of time relaxing by the lower ground pool and when we had the energy we went to the little well equiped gym - a two minutes walk away so hard to find an excuse not to go. We also visited the turkish baths ,also two minutes away and a great experience.John had the best shave he has ever had at the little barber near the postoffice. The shave comes with a head , neck and shoulder massage -all for 7 lira. He wishes he had not left his first experience of this until the last day.
We both bought beautiful leather bags at a fraction of UK prices . Again a lot of choice and excellent quality.
We went to Patara beach and visited the Roman amphitheatre there- an absolute must. We did not do any other exploring but thats ok because we will be back for sure.

I think we found paradise!

Bernie Hearn and Family

7 - 21 August 2009

This was a dream come true in terms of having a real ‘family’ holiday and the location, accommodation, and views of Kalkan literally took our breath away as we explored it all upon our arrival....and then later on the roof terrace with shooting stars and fireworks!

The weather was hot but had the pool to cool us all down and lots of games in the pool. We cooked b-b-q’s (including whiting fish and prawns) with drinks on the terrace and nights caps on the roof terrace and then midnight swims to cool us all down again. All watched over by two black and white cats who sort of adopted us as their owners and home!

We explored the town – the harbour, the restaurants, cocktail bars (three clubs for the younger set) and the beautiful gift shops.

We took half turkish lire and half sterling - which worked brilliantly.

We fell in love with the people – so kind and welcoming and bought green tea and Turkish delight at the Thursday market.

We visited Patara beach, climbed thru the gorges (a bit scary), canoed along the Xanthos river, did a trial dive, met Charlie off a coach in Kas from Istanbul (very good shops there too!), and did two boat trips + lunch where we dived into the clear blue seas (our favourite). We had a Turkish bath and various massages at Atlantis and even found sky television for the football at the Swan Pub (this might be important as next year is the World Cup!).

Now we are back we are slightly boggling at all that we packed in with plenty of time for relaxing as well – the only slight challenge was the walk back up the hill from the town!

Our holiday began and ended with dinner and champagne at the Moonlight Terrace Pension run by the helpful and charming Osman and his family.

We would love to return at some point to your magical home in Turkey – I think we found Paradise! Much love Bernie + 7 other truly grateful family members xxx

Delivers on all it's promises!

Review Submitted: August 9, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
If you are lucky enough to book this property you wil not be disappointed. The villa is immaculate and well proportioned over the three floors. It's location on the edge of the village centre is ideal for access to the shops, restaurants, beach and harbour whilst maintaining a peaceful calm to enjoy the panoramic views on offer.

The pool is very welcome in the heat of the summer and is maintained every day. The owner has arranged excellent customer service to deal with any maintenance queries and a cleaning service was provided at the end of week one during our two week stay.

We had four teenagers with us and the resort is friendly and safe for them to explore the nightlife. As a family we enjoyed visiting some of the local beach clubs which provide a free water taxi from the harbour, Palm beach was our favourite. There are lots of water sports available if like us you are keen to have fun on the water. We also took a boat trip each week from the harbour on Sunset 1 which we would recommend. A lovely way to spend the day visiting local bays, snorkelling and taking a mud bath! Lunch is provided and of a good standard.
For something different we took a Turkish cookery lesson at Guru's restaurant on the outskirts of Kalkan. The owner Huseyn will collect you from the villa and after cooking a traditional Turkish dish you sit down to eat it! Our teenagers had good fun and would recommend others to try it.
There are many great restaurants in Kalkan so you will be spoiled for choice. Some we would recommend are The Moonlight Terrace near to the villa which has an excellent set menu, a little more special The Olive Garden, Ibo or Paparazzi all ooffer fantastic food with great roof terrace views.
So, we are jealous if you are going to stay here, we will definitely be re- booking.
A couple of useful tips, only take flat shoes ladies as the walk down and up to the villa is steep and in the heat of the summer the cobbled streets are slippery. Factor 25 suncream and above in July and August are essential!
