Mar de Cristal has always been known for its crystal clear waters and is perfectly situated to take advantage of the towns of El Algar and Los Belones and the harbour town of Cartagena. The development is just a short distance from the popular La Manga area where you can enjoy the top class La Manga Golf Club Resort with its lively international atmosphere and many amenities such as casinos, shops, restaurants and of course the three championship golf courses. Mar de Cristal has excellent safe beaches, a tiled promenade and a marina. The Mar Menor is indeed crystal clear and is a mecca for all kinds of watersports, sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, scuba or just swimming. Golf is never far away here with the World famous La Manga Club being just a 5 minute drive, the 3 courses of Villamartin, Campoamor and Las Ramblas 30 mintues North. There are several protected areas within a short drive, Calblanque and Salinas bird sanctuary being 5 mintues away.

The Costa Calida/Murcia region: Costa Calida or ' Warm Coast' stretches along the largest lagoon in Europe. (The Mar Menor) around to the La Manga strip. The mud baths and spas around the Mar Menor are believed to have great healing properties for aliments such as rheumatism and arthritis. The World Health Organization recently declared the beautiful Capital City of Murcia the cleanest area in Spain. It has a wealth of fine buildings including its magnificent Cathedral, a beautiful Monastery, gardens and parks. You can wander through the Pedestrianised areas to beautiful squares alive with outdoor cafes. Murcia is an extremely historical, friendly city that prides itself in maintaining its traditions. The fabulous fiestas, fantastic food, beautiful scenery, glorious soft sand beaches and the friendliest of people make this an exceptional region of Spain. The ancient city of Cartagena is a short distance from Mar de Cristal either by car or train, and was founded by the Carthaginians in the year 227BC.

Our Family Holiday Visit

My husband and i took our 6 month old son on his first holiday abroad. We chose this apartment and we were very happy when we arrived and saw the place. The appartment was just as it had been decribed, it was so homely it had everything we needed, and having a little one it was very handy as we spent alot of time in the appartment. The neighbours were so friendly aswell and made it a very comfortable stay. I would strongley recomend it to others. The swimming pool area was clean and well looked after.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

A beautiful, well furnished comfortable apartment, just as described. We loved the private sun terrace, and it's beautiful views. The balcony provides a shaded area, providing a choice between shade or sun. Neither are overlooked.The pool and surrounding area were clean and well maintained.
There is a lovely promenade to walk along the sea front within easy walking distance of the apartment. The beach at Mar de Cristal was beautiful, the sea is shallow, so well suited to families.
We had a very relaxing holiday in the warm September sunshine. We would highly recommend this apartment,and hope to make a return visit.

We stayed in this apartment in May 2009 after staying in the area the past 2 years running. We have 2 children aged 9 and 5 and can hoesly say this is a more than comfotable apartment with everything you could ask for. The kids are never out of the pool and we loved the unspoilt feel of the area which is very Spanish. We made full use of the SunTerrace enjoying Al Fresco meals and graet views.
The only thing I would add is that a car although not neccessary is beneficial to explore the local area and restaraunts.

Fantastic Holiday

Everything about apartment was just as it had been decribed, it was well furnished and fully equiped. The swimming pool area was clean and well looked after.

Comfortable beds and lounge made the stay a relaxing one. The surrounding area has plenty to explore it was just a short walk to the beaches, the cafes as well as the local supermarkets. The beaches were clean and very quiet; the Mar Menor was warm to swim in with lifeguards on duty too.

The property was beautiful, the views marvellous and the roof terrace really great. Having a balcony plus a roof terrace gave the choice of shade or sun at any time of the day and a feeling of not being overlooked and the extra loungers, beach chairs and parasol made all the difference. The area was very quiet and very secure.

We would certainly go back again and recommend this to anybody.

Relaxing Retreat

Facilities in apartment excellent for couples or families. Roof top excellent for bathing/spending time when wind not too strong. Didn't try the pool ourselves however several others used it during the week and looked to enjoy. Would definitely recommend a car to get about and to eat out during the day or at night, the Oasis in Los Belones serves excellent meals. Many thanks to Stuart for the use of the facility and for his help and communication throughout
